goldenglow's Full Review: The Fat Fallacy : Applying the French Diet to the ...
Let's face it. While many of us Americans are counting fat grams, carbs and protein, or debating the latest diet, and getting fatter...the French are enjoying the pleasures of their food and remain oh so chic and slim!
Clower points this out clearly in his book "Applying the French Diet to the American Lifestyle". He says regardless of what scientists say about the nutritional benefits of eating low fat or no sugar, we should look to the French for a way of eating that successfully keeps the Frenchman/woman slim and trim and healthy! The average French woman lives 2 years longer than the American woman.
And how can this be? We Americans are exercising ourselves into a frenzy, counting carbs, reading the latest on nutrition. We are eating lots of no fat, low fat food even if it isn't all that tasty. We avoid cheese, real butter....What gives? Because there are the French they are eating full fat cheeses, drinking wine, drinking full fat milk, savoring dallops of real cream in their hearty French roast coffee. Is this fair! Why do they as a culture have only an 8% obesity rate. While that number is much higher in the United States and skyrocketing!
Clower explains it all in his simple to read book. The French eat REAL foods not FAUX foods. Ever read the label on the back of "light butter" and compare it to full fat butter. Full of additives. Things our bodies do not know how to process!
The French enjoy their food, savoring it slowly. They are not found eating as they run to their car. Or gulping down a BIG MAC at lunch. NON! They are eating for enjoyment. Smelling and tasting the food.
The French eat in moderation. No BIG GULPS or SUPERSIZE FRIES there! Small portions of high quality food. Quality over quantity.
The French fit in exercise naturally. They don't huff and puff at the gym. They are busy walking to the market to pick up that french baquette!
Clower carefully explains these reasons and more for the success of the French diet! The 272 page hard back book which runs around $20 is worth every cent. Learn to rediscover food for enjoyment and stay slim. He teaches you how step by step in this book!
I have thrown out my light ice cream and am fully embracing the full fat taste of real ice cream. MAIS OUI!
