Pros: worked muscles I didn't know I had, convenient, lightweight
Cons: expensive, could be slightly larger
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend the Fanny Lifter to any other FIRM video users that are on the fence about buying it. It makes the workouts much more effective.

| madcatkim's Full Review: The Firm Fanny Lifter FAN1 |
I've had videos by The Firm for several years now and I've hemmed and hawed for the longest time about whether or not I really needed anything taller than my 8" step to get results. The Firm used to sell a "tall box" than was a rather cheap-looking wooden stool and I just couldn't bring myself to buy it.
Now they have this two-piece "Fanny Lifter" and I finally broke down and spent the money for it. It is made of plastic and has two sections (6" and 8") that easily stack to a 14" inch height for tough leg work. I'm definitely glad that I bought it. I really wasn't getting the workout I thought I was from just an 8" step.
I have the new series of videos by The Firm: AbSculpt, CardioSculpt, and BodySculpt. Each video uses the Fanny Lifter but it was the BodySculpt video that really showed me what this contraption can do. I immediately felt tightness in my rear end and my legs have never worked so hard. It is used in exercises for other parts of the body but only as a support.
Please don't expect the workouts using the Fanny Lifter to be easy. Stepping up and down off of it when both parts are stacked to the 14" height is a lot more difficult than it seems. A beginner exerciser may find the exercises to be a bit discouraging so I would recommend this workout prop for intermediate and advanced exercisers.
Also, don't be fooled by the plastic material. I find that it is plenty sturdy and have not found it "tippy" even on rough carpet. However, if you have a good handman (or handywoman!) around the house, you can probably make a good substitute out of wood.
