| twobabygirls's Full Review: The First Years 3-In-1 Reclining Feeding Seat 1099 |
I love this seat! Plain and simple! I was concerned when I had my first baby about where I was going to store a highchair. I mean after all the other "equipment" in my house....activity gym, walker, bouncy seat, car seat, etc. I was running out of room in my house! I tried to find a basic highchair, but they are all so huge these days. I came across this chair and decided to give it a try.
My first baby is now 2, and she is still using this chair. In the beginning, I loved how it reclined back just enough to allow my baby the support she needed, but still allowed her to see her surroundings while she ate. It was simple to attach to my dining room chair, and fit perfectly under my table when we scooted her chair in. That way it was barely noticeable in my house full of baby gear! Once we straightened the seat up when she got older, she spent hours scrapping food off the tray and into her mouth. The tray has a raised area all around the tray to keep things from sliding onto the floor. My child was the messiest eater, and we rarely had any spills. When she moved onto handling her own bowl and spoon, we used a suction bowl on the tray, and once again were very pleased with the chair!
Now we no longer use the tray. My 2 year old climbs into her chair and straps herself in all on her own. Then we simply push the chair up to the table and she feels like such a big girl sitting next to her daddy!
As far as cleaning, the tray just pops in the dish washer. Our tray has never been stained, and we have had tons of spaghetti smashed on there. The little padding on the back has been through the washer a billion times, and still looks like new. There are a lot of crevices on the seat itself, but the easiest thing we've found to do is either take it outside and hose it down, or throw it in the bathtub for a quick scrubbing. And remember....my little girl has had everything imaginable smushed into this chair!
The seat has been raised and lowered to adjust for her height, and although it was tricky at first to adjust the recline, I eventually got the hang of it.
I just had baby number two, and she has started cereal. I am on my way this week to pick up another of these seats, because I know my first baby is nowhere near ready to give hers up!
