| crazym3's Full Review: The First Years 3-In-1 Reclining Feeding Seat 1099 |
The First Years 3-in-1 Reclining Feeding Seat has been a pleasure to assemble, clean, and adjust. This inexpensive and diverse chair will help ease any parent's "feeding time" anxiety.
Assembly
Forget the crib, swing, car seat, and various hard-to-assemble toys. This seat is easy to assemble and use immediately. Simply attach the plastic seat to the bottom portion of the chair, and snap the back support to the bottom as well. If the chair is going to be used on another chair, you'll need to arrange the safety belts. If the chair is going to be used on the floor, the belts are not necessary (always keeping in mind that supervision should always be top priority!). Once the bottom and back support are assembled, simply attach the cover (which has a small amount of padding), you are ready to feed! It also comes with a snap-on/snap-off tray for older children.
Cleaning
I read a review that said cleaning was difficult, but I'm not really sure how that could be. The entire chair is made of plastic and the cover is simple to wash. I, however, have never had a problem cleaning this chair. My daughter has squished peas, carrots, beans, and more into the seat and the cover, and it has never taken any longer than 5 minutes to clean. I didn't have to break out a toothbrush or harsh chemicals, it just wipes off! I would recommend using a safe antibacterial agent, but soap and water will do just fine as well.
Also, I was slightly concerned about the white tray and white plastic bottom staining, but we've been actively using this chair for over a year and it is still stain-free.
Adjusting
On each side of the chair is a button. These buttons, if used simultaneously, can make it difficult to adjust the chair, but I have figured out the trick! If you press ONE button in and pull that side of the chair forward (or backward, as it may be)and then repeat the process on the other side, it is very easy to adjust. I will mention, however, that you will only want to make one adjustment at a time on each side to avoid any damage that could occur.
Bottom Line
This is, by far, the best feeding chair on the market!
1) Doesn't take up a lot of space and can be stored in probably any closet.
2) Comes with an educational and fun place mat.
3) Reclines for infants and toddlers of many stages.
4) Cleans very easily (simply wipe down seat and tray, and either wash cover or wipe it down as well).
5) Can be used with practically any chair.
6) Comes with safety belts for baby's security (and Mom and Dad's peace-of-mind).
7) Affordable. Affordable. Affordable. We paid less than $30 for ours!
8) Easy assembly, but it still comes with instructions, Dad.
9) Durable. We've been using ours for over a year!
10) No staining! It has made it through peas, carrots, corn, beans, bananas, peaches, etc.
If you're reading this review, it is probably because you've thought about buying a standard high-chair, and are having second thoughts. Whatever the reason, just know that this feeding chair is a terrific alternative to the standard chairs, and could also be a learning tool (our daughter now knows what "chair" is and even walks over and sits down in it when she is hungry)!
If this review has helped you make a decision, please, let me know what it was and if you decide to buy this chair, return and let me know how you like it!
