Let's start by telling you I have 4 children under 3 1/2. Three of them are avid sippy cup users. I have tried many styles of cup. This is the first cup I can honestly say does what it says and all 3 children can drink well from them. I bought them originally because I thought the built in valves were a good idea and I liked the fact they have an attached cap.
The cup pictured here is blue; I have the blue, red, green, and purple cups in my home. They have been in use for almost 2 years with multiple daily uses and they have not faded.
Here are the pros:
- holds 10 ounces which is a nice sized drink.
- has a 4 ounce "juice line" etched in the plastic so you can easily measure out a 4 ounce drink if you want to. In my home, the kids get 4 oz milk before bed. Takes a second to pour out.
- has a built in valve. Can't tell you how many times other brand cups' valves ended up lost or in the garbage disposer because they are clear and hard to see.
- has an attached yellow cap which covers the drink spout. This is great for travel or just to keep the cups clean before offering them to your child.
- the colors offered are neutral- neither "super boy" or "super girl" so the whole family can use.
- no need for replacement valves since you won't lose the valve.
Now, the cons:
- some other cups have little grip strips so that little hands can grasp. These cups are smooth in the grip area and can be a little slippery if condensation builds up on it.
- since the valves are built in, you tend to question whether or not they are completely clean.
- very often you have to buy a 2-pack. With different colors in the pack, it became a problem with everyone fighting over the same favorite color cup.
- when the cup is dropped from a high spot- i.e. the countertop, the cap can detach.
- if the lid isn't screwed on tight enough, my kids can unscrew this cup's lid and fluid can leak.
Here is what I call the neutral (neither pro or con):
- children's teeth scratch the sippy area similar to every sippy cup out there.
- there is no 100% leakproof cup out there in my opinion.
- sippy cups cost too much money. I didn't spend even 1/2 this much on my everyday glasses for me and my husband.
- top rack dishwasher safe similar to other cups.
- valves and sippy area stained a little with using foods such as sauce or grape juice similar to other cups.
