| sschlundt's Full Review: The First Years Cool Triangle Teether |
I swear my daughter was born teething. She has shown the "signs" of teething pain for several months, and she is not even six months old yet. Prior to purchasing the First Years Cool Triangle Teether, we bought her a couple of other teething toys. She seemed to enjoy those, but since we had read so many positive reviews of this particular teether, we decided to try it.
My daughter, not to mention her parents, have been pleased with the results. This is such a simple looking contraption. There really isn't much to it. The teething portion is a liquid-filled soft yet pliable plastic in the shape of a triangle (hence the name). It is blue in color with raised lines near each of the three corners. The triangle is attached to a white handle. Simple. That's it.
It is this simple design that our daughter likes. Less is more in this case. This easy design means there is less to worry about getting in her mouth. When your motor control isn't exactly perfect, plus you have a sore mouth, you don't want to worry about getting some elaborate gadget into your mouth. This way it's easy.
Emily seems to prefer the Triangle Teether when it's frozen. We tried refrigerating it a few times, but she loses interest very quickly. She likes the feel of the freezing cold on her gums, I guess. It must be more soothing for her. We find that when the teether starts to warm up to room temperature, she begins to play with it and eventually will chew on the handle part. But she quickly loses interest when it's not cold. Luckily, it doesn't take long for the teether to get cool again. (I guess if we were on the ball, we'd have two of them!)
The handle and teether portions are also easy for our daughter to grip. This pleases everyone. That way Emily can maneuver it however she needs to, and we don't have to constantly help her with it. She can soothe herself for a few minutes without requiring our help.
The First Years Cool Triangle Teether has been very useful. It definitely has helped our daughter get through some of her teething woes (and us too!)
*Update*
Two things I need to mention... one is - the handle of my daughter's teether is actually purple and not the "standard" white. The second point I wanted to mention is that when you freeze this teether, the handle does not feel cold. I find this very nice for my daughter. Though, the cold doesn't seem to affect her little hands, it makes me feel better knowing that the handle stays pretty much room temperature while the teething part is frozen!
