pablothegreat's Full Review: The Flintstones Dino Child Costume
Our Experience:
You have to understand, my child did not talk until really really late so when she says I want to be a dinosaur, I take that to heart and will search the ends of the earth for a costume. We both love Halloween and my daughter loves to dress up for Halloween. Well this one certain Halloween, I could not find her a dinosaur costume in her size!! The best I could do was this Dino costume. Not exactly what she wanted. She wanted one that was a "REAL dinosaur mommy!!" So this was a disappointment right off the bat. My daughter just knew her friends would laugh at her baby costume. We went to the fall festival and everyone loved her Dino costume! Then my daughter started feeling a lot better about it.
I was a little worried when I ordered this from www.buycostumes.com about the head of it being too bulky and heavy or falling off. It was fine. It stayed on my daughter's head and held in place. I loved that it kept her warm all evening when trick or treating. She was so cute dancing at the fall festival in the Dino costume, waving that huge tail around!!
We did have a problem keeping the legs pulled down, they kept creeping up. I did not like that the hands and feet of the Dino costume were not really hands or feet. There was a bump of foam and then cloth claws for hands, that kept flipping every which a way. The feet of the costume were just pieces of cloth hanging down. The tail was perfect! Huge and standing up like a dinosaur. The only problem with that is she could not sit down in the costume. My daughter's neck was cold as the head and body of the costume do not connect. So I ended up putting a scarf around her. All in all, it was a cute costume and my daughter ended up liking it!
Description:
Comes in two pieces. Huge head for Dino costume, that has space for child's face and velcro under the chin to hold it on. Costume's hands are bumps of foam with cloth for claws. The feet are just strips of cloth for claws hanging down. The tail stands out in the back.
Likes:
My daughter liked that it had a tail like a "real dinosaur". She also liked how big the head was and how tall it made her seem to be. Very cute costume!
Dislikes:
My daughter did not like the hands that were not really hands on the costume. I did not like to have to keep pulling the legs down as they were creeping up her legs. Also I did not like having to add a scarf to keep her neck warm--they should have some way to connect the head and the body of the costume.
Final verdict:
Very cute Dino costume, just needs a few improvements to make it perfect!
