The Gift of Bone..

Written: Feb 27 '02 (Updated Feb 27 '02)
Pros:Great cd with 14 amazing tracks
Cons:not on ruthless(maybe that's a good thing)
The Bottom Line: it's a great cd you should give a listen(no bling bling stuff like all that mainstream rap)

Intro
As any true Bone fan, I've listened to bone for 8 years now. And also as many, I've witnessed the problems bone has had with each other, as well as outside groups. Now, as any happy bone fan, I get to sit back and witness bone patching their family beef, and striking back against their industry enemies. With "The Gift" Bizzy Bone continues and carries on from where his Bone brethren left off.

A Break Down of My Favorite Songs
The first song, which is also my first favorite, is entitled "Schizophrenic". This backs a unique background with the usual rapid-fire lyrics of Bizzy. Not only will the background get you hooked, but also the lyrics and the way bizzy performs will have you rappin along, singin, "ya feel the air, when I bust em on down!"

My second favorite song is Before I Go. The Chorus is something like "Now before I go to jail, he££ na, don't let em put me in a cell lord, praise god now before I go to jail". In this song, he singin about how hard it is, and how he's not proud of his life, but it's the way he had to live.

Don't Doubt Me has to be my Third favorite, simply because he explains why him and bone were having problems. This is an awesome song, that CLEARLY states that the reason bone was feuding is because of RUTHLESS, and the Black Widow(Tomica Wright).

All Tracks
1.Schizophrenic-A great song, one of the best on the cd. Tight beats, great lyrics. Something you can listen to over and over again.

2.Don't Be Dumb-Here bizzy talks about as he was growing up, he was dumb. Making mistakes left and right. Great lyrics, nice beat.

3.Whole Wide World-Another catchy beat. A light-hearted song, where Bizzy praises his success. Also, how he came to Jesus-IE)-"I barely made it, I was runnin round faded-comin around the corner, Jesus I found ya".

4.Never Grow-This is a great cd, which is telling everyone now, that they won't ever grow(or become something). A song that I think Bizzy's unleashes his pain and anger. None-the-less this is a great song to listen too.

5.Murderah-Talks about how people kill without even thinking about it. Attacks the government(not just the USA), he even takes a shot at Suddam Hussein).

6.Before I Go-Explained this song above, but I will again. This song has a great beat and great lyrics. Bizzy pieced it together extremely well.

7.Be Careful-The title basically explains this song. Tells how Bizzy grew up, and went from being locked up, then meeting bone. A rather slow song, and even though good, is not for those that like faster paced songs that bone is so famous for.

8.Fried Day- If you have the "Next Friday" Soundtrack, then you've heared this song before. One of Bone's famous weed songs, Fried Day is all about getting high, and praising mari-jane. A great song, with a catchy tune, and a great background beat that you can bump over and over again.

9.Voices In The Head-This song sounds like something Eminem would do. Bizzy acts as if he's the voice inside someone's head, telling them to do drugs, and what drugs to do. The chorus is-"Who me? I'm the voice in your head, you're dead as a doorknob doorknob". The lyrics are funny, and the beat is decent.

10.Still Thuggish Ruggish-Bone Thugs N Harmony rose to fame with their hit single "Thuggish Ruggish Bone". Still Thuggish Ruggish, is Bizzy's way of letting the world that even though 7 years, and multi-platinum, he's still thug, still doing the same thing. Good beat, and lyrics. The way he performs might kind of take you back to Art of War/BTNHResurrection.

11.Dont Doubt Me-Bizzy explains his beef with bone, and why he wasn't showing up to shows. Bombing ruthless for not paying him what he deserves. Makes it clear that Bone has not broke up. Ok beat, great lyrics, with an explanation that we've been waitin for a while.

12.Time Passing Us By-A wake up call to the community, saying why the heck do you think our kids are still smoking weed? He says about kids killing each other, and police brutality. Good song, one you have to listen to it, and I mean OPEN YOUR EARS.

13.Father-This is a great song, beyond explanation, just take the cd and LISTEN.

14.Jesus-Tells about how to Bizzy, Jesus makes him feel good, and going to Jesus can make better all the wrongs that have ever happened in your life. Describes how Jesus gave a sacrifice for all mankind. Kind of slow song, sappy beat(terrible beat), but it's lyrics are good.

My Over-All Opinion
Despite having my favorites, this is a great cd. It's one of the only few cds that I can listen straight through. Without skipping a song. I just wish that it had more songs on it.

Other than that, Bizzy Bone's sophmore solo cd, "The Gift" is a great gift for those bone lovers out there, or a great cd to add to any hip-hop collecting(In My Opinion). As it offers music from the Original Cleveland Criminals very own, Bizzy Bone.

Cost & Availability
If you're in Canada you might have a hard time finding it. Specially when it's so hard to find a lot of stuff that are available in the states. If you do happen to find it in Canada, it could cost around 20 bucks CA. If you're in the USA, then this cd can cost you anywhere from 12.99 to 18.99 USD. Depending on where you buy it from. Suffice it to say, if you know which stores offer the better prices, then you'll get it for cheap. Just a side note, I got my cd as a gift, so I can't give you a price for what I paid.

Recommendations 1
For those that liked this cd, I'd recommend Krayzie Bone "Thug On Da Line" & "Thug Mentality 1999", Layzie Bone "L-Burna, Thug By Nature", Bizzy Bone "Heavan'z Movie", Flesh N Bone "Trues Humbly United Gatherin Souls" & "Fifth Dawg Lets Loose".

Or Check The Group That Originated These Members
Bone Thugs N Harmony-"Faces of Death", "Creepin On Ah Come Up", "East 1999 Eternal", "Art of War", "BNTHResurrection", "The Collection V. 1", "The Collection V. 2". Also be looking out for a new album released by Bone in the near future(Spring/Summer of 2002)!

Related Artists
Poetic Hustla'z "Trials & Tribulations", II Tru "A New Breed of Female", Mo Thug "Family Scriptures" "Family Reunion" "Mothership".

Outro
Thanks once again for reading my opinion, though it means little. Please come back and read my other opinions. Also be looking for me to write a review on the group Dark Lotus, and their cd "Tales From The Lotus Pod", a group that is made up of Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, and a few other rappers from their record company.

My Apologies
Just a quick note, whenever I do a review on music, I don't explain the background very well. This is because I don't have any real background in music, so I am unable to describe the different sounds, and what kind of instrument they are, or whatever else. All I can tell you is how I like it, and how it sounds to me(good or bad!).
