The Hulk has been ever so popular the last couple of weeks. With the new movie coming out, all that you hear is “Hulk, Hulk, Hulk!” Well many don’t know that there is also a roller coaster based after The Hulk. The name is The Incredible Hulk Coaster.

Located near the entrance of Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Fl, the coaster is one of the major attractions at the park. It is also one of the three coasters at the park. There is usually a long line on the busy days. However, I’ve gone on it twice and have been lucky to find short lines of about a half an hour -- yes, that’s considered short for this coaster.

The line starts outside with a couple snake rows. After passing those, the line continues indoors through a slope which brings you to the coaster. The slope has tv’s every couple of ft., and on the tv’s The Hulk is played. No, not the movie; The Hulk Cartoon. This is very smart since it keeps people entertained while in line.

The cartoon is about how something goes terribly wrong with Dr. Bruce Banner’s gamma-ray accelerator. A regular man who is being tested by the accelerator gets hit with anger and mysteriously turns into The Hulk: a dangerous green monster who tries to destroy the city.

The Coaster

There are four seats in each row, and there are eight rows of seats in total. A harness comes above your head since the roller coaster goes upside down. Be careful because the harness is very tight. Overweight people may not be as comfortable in the coaster because of this.

Make sure that kids below 54” know that they can’t go on the ride before you get to the park. They will want to go, but the minimum height is 54” and no exceptions can be made. Also, anyone who is pregnant is not allowed to ride.

Once everyone is strapped in, you get the “go” signal. The lime green coaster starts by going up an enclosed tunnel. About halfway through, the coaster bursts to 40 M.P.H in two seconds. Once shot out of the tunnel, you go through a corkscrew and the ride has begun! Here are some facts about The Incredible Hulk Coaster:

- It was built over a lake.
- The are jet blasts of water at one point of the ride that hit the coaster and the riders.
- It’s highest point is 125 ft. high.
- The coaster is a steel coaster that was rated #1 by Discovery Channel viewers.
- There are several loops but no really steep drops.
- A double-corkscrew is near the beginning of the ride.
- The track length of the coaster is 3,970 ft.
- The longest drop is 105 ft.
- Top speed of The Incredible Hulk Coaster is 60 M.P.H.
- Duration of ride is one minute and 55 seconds total.

My Thoughts

Man oh man, this is a great ride! I would recommend it for adrenaline junkies because it goes so fast and is very exciting. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for people who have heart problems, are sick or have just had surgery, or older people who aren’t used to extreme roller coasters like The Incredible Hulk Coaster.

I have found the coaster to have an incredibly smooth track. Unlike many other coasters, this one doesn’t make you hit your head against the harness which straps you in.

One thing I should worry you about is about when you are shot out of the tunnel in the beginning of the ride. I got a cramp when the coaster was shooting out of the tunnel once because it was so sudden. So make sure your neck is loose and always make sure your head is on the headrest. This will decrease your chances of getting a cramp.

All in all, this was a great ride. If you’re not a wimp, go ahead and try it. Trust me, you will like it if you go on it.
