That's great info - if you put that into the review, it would add to the helpfulness!

I don't know the absolute reason why the place may not have been crowded but I can add that there is a lot of construction going around the building and the place, though now open, looks closed.

The Jekyll & Hyde Club is a 'theme-based' restaurant in NY city, based upon ...Jekyll & Hyde. Their web-site is:http://www.eerie.com/home.html.
The 'show' that we saw was a skit invovling the mad scientist, who raoms the restaurant with his tall (and hideous-looking) assistant. At the beginning of the skit, there is a weather alert announcing bad thunderstorms and lighting. The scientist says this will work out - he's attempting some reanimation of life (more like Frankenstein than Jekyll & Hyde). Lots of light-flickering, a table with a body is lowered from the ceiling, etc. Don't want to give the whole thing away, but it lasts about 7-10 minutes, then eveyobe goes back to eating, drinking. The show was just OK - nothing that special. It's the whole atmosphere that makes the place work, although I don't know how much repeat business the place gets. While we were trying to take some pictures through some glass, a guy told us he's never gotten the pictures to come out right because of the flash (so he had been there before).
Hope all this helps.

but couldn't remember their schtick, and unfortunately, I didn't know what it was when I was done. If you could elaborate on what made this a special restaurant, let me know know so I can take another look.

In response to wondering why the restaurant wasn't that crowded: I believe that it was our timing. It was about 5 o'clock on a Sunday. The inside seemed full and busy; we may have just gotten lucky to get in quickly. BTW, I had called ahead and was told there was about a 15 minute wait - no reservations except for 5 or more, and then you have a set menu, I think, instead of ordering anything you want.

I've seen this restaurant on the Food Network. It always seemed so neat, but you aren't the first person who says that they weren't very crowded. Wonder what that's all about.
Anyway, would love to know of some of the other offerings they have and what kind of "show" you saw! My seven year-old loves scary stuff, too, so I know he'd enjoy it here.
