fellow Texan, and welcome to Epinions!

I rated your review "Helpful" rather than "Very Helpful" because you stated that Lewis' book contained 127 of his best writings within it. However, you didn't give us an idea of what those works might be about.

For instance, taking a few titled works from the 127 (say maybe 5 or 6), give us an idea of what the plot (per title) might have told us (the readers) of importance. What this does is let the reader know whether the style, topics and interesting facts the author might have included in this book might interest the buyer/reader enough to commit to buying or reading.

Perhaps taking a look at other similar anthological-type books reviewed here on site might help. Or, email me if I can be of help. Also, if you revise, email me the url of your review. My email address may be found on my members profile page.

Best of luck, and never be discouraged. This was a good review. Keep at it!

It's nice to see someone reviewing one of my favorite authors, especially his more "serious" work. I have a couple of suggestions that might make this review even better than it is, if you're interested. Don't get me wrong, it's a good start.

First, if you know any background about Lewis, that might make a good place to start. Some people reading this review might not know who he is, or might not know he wrote the Narnia chronicles. That would be a good thing to mention, in case it rings any bells for your reader. I always like to know if the reviewer has read other material by the author, or if this is their first exposure. That helps me determine how similar I am to the reviewer, which helps me determine if I'd tend to share the same tastes.

I like that you've given a couple of examples. Can you tell a little about the different themes of the different pieces? How about Lewis's writing style? Is he friendly? Funny? Distant? Does he expect you to know anything about Christianity? Does he sound like a person of deep faith himself? Did you feel enlightened after reading his work or did it just talk about things you already knew?

Of course, you don' t have to have an answer to all of these questions. These are just some avenues to explore, maybe in future reviews.

Welcome to Epinions, and I hope you meet some joyful people!

hello there, thank you for your review. I think you have a nice writing style - but it might be improved with a little more organization. You might try a few headings or bolded words in addition to a little personal touch to guide the reader through your reviews. Good luck here!
