We arrived in Savannah about 10:50am on a Friday morning, the crowd of people waiting to get in The Lady and Sons was down the street! They opened at 11:00am. I got our name on the list and was given a pager. I was told to come back at 11:45am. The pager worked in a 3 block radius. It was a very hot humid June day.

We came back at 11:45 and had to wait another 45 minutes, with kids. It was so HOT & HUMID!! While standing in line I chatted with the hostess about Paula and if she was ever there, etc. She said her sons mainly run the restaurant and that she hadn't seen Paula since Thanksgiving - Wow! That surprised me.
We got seated on the 3rd floor, they did have an elevator. Our waiter was not that friendly, and provided okay service. We had the buffet which included, fried chicken (this was soo good), fried fish, grits, cream corn, greens (the best I ever had) black eye peas, lima beans, green beans (not good), delicious salad bar and biscuits and ho cakes, the kids loved those! The lunch buffet was $12.99 adults, $6.99 kids. The reason the vegetables are so good is that they are literally swimming in butter. You could just see the yellow butter laden juice the vegetables were in. We ate until we were stuffed.
On the way out I wanted to buy a Paul Deen cookbook. I asked the sales girl if Paula had signed any, she said if Paula was here, she would sign them, but she was not there.
This is the kicker.......where my husband had parked the car was around back of the restaurant and we walked around behind the restaurant and I looked up and saw a door that said "Catering" and I looked in and saw Paula's son standing there, we took a few more steps, my son looked back and said "that looks like Paula". I turned around and there she was! To my amazement! My husband wanted me to go back and have her sign my cookbook, but I didn't. It looked like she was being escorted by someone to her car.
So, if you go, I bet she will be there, even though the staff will tell you she is not. It was kinda disappointing to wait that long and not even get an autograph in my $16 cookbook.
