This book is definitely one of my favorites. I would go to the gym and pedal on the bike just to read this book! I just didn't want to wait until I went to bed. I have talked to others, one lady with a teenage daughter, and yes, the first chapter is hard, especially if you can't see your daughter. Her husband though read it and loved it. After the first chapter, which read the first few lines, and it is a bit of a shock, but it is very good, and in the end, a endearing story on family and love.
It doesn't matter what your age or if you have children or not, this book will make you think twice about your life and loses. It is a book about heaven, but I don't think one needs to be a Christian to enjoy it or needs to be devoutly religious to see that this book is a timeless tale. I would say, if you do have children, especially a daughter, make sure you can talk to her or see her when you read the first chapter or so. The first two or three lines took my breath away, but I think that is a necessity of the story.
