If you have ever been to Orlando, Florida, you know how many residents and tourists are in the large area. More often than not, you find yourself fighting your way down I-4 at a pace of about 20-25 mph. The congestion in the city is just plain ridiculous. Trying to avoid the main roads and taking the toll roads was not an option for me. I lived near Orlando for 4 ˝ years and am actually glad to be gone. I am not a patient driver and found myself driving the toll roads (that rip you off) more often than not simply to try and avoid the traffic. But sometimes it was just not possible.
Central Florida caters to the tourists
so building another mall about a year ago was nothing surprising to the residents living in the area. A high-end mall centered along Conroy road in Orlando? It fit perfectly with the area.
The mall consists of two levels:
Lower Level
The Picture People, FYE, Pac Sun, Abbys Hallmark, Limited Too, Sunglass Hut, Gordon's Jewelers, Aerosoles, Everything But Water, Rockport, The Icing, Brookstone, Arden B., Talbots, Talbots Petite, Ann Taylor, LOccitane, Swarovski, Banana Republic, Victorias Secret, Victoria's Secret Beauty, Blooming Beauty, Sanrio, Talbots Woman, Zara, American Eagle Outfitters, Bath & Body Works, Finish Line, Hollister Co., Apple, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Bahama's, The Body Shop, Betset Johnson, Barnies Coffee & Tea, Rocks Fine Jewelry, Marmi, Godiva, Charles David, Lucky Brand Jeans, Aldo, Cache, Lillie Rubin, Jurlique, Max Studio.com, Brighton Collectibles, Sporting Eyes, Mayors Jewelers, Bebe, J.Jill, Adrienne Vittadini, Williams-Sonoma, Anthropologie, Guess, Pottery Barn Kids, Oilily, Na Hoku, Lacoste, Bag N Baggage, United Colors of Benetton, Sisley, A Pea In The Pod, Salon Cielo Aveda, Casual Corner, Petite Sophisticate, Holdeverything, St. Hubert
Upper Level

* There are only three anchor stores in this mall: Macys, Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.
~ Food ~
Tastes of Millenia is what the major restaurants are called, and they are located centrally in the bottom half of the mall. The Cheesecake Factory, the California Pizza Kitchen, and Panera Bread are three of my favorite restaurants in the mall. Also included are McCormick & Schmicks, Brio Tuscan Grille, and P.F. Changs China Bistro.
The Orangerie Cafes include Bistro Sensations, Cajun Grill, Chick-fil-A, Fruit n Smoothie Sensations, Gourmet Grill, Haagen Dazs, Mrs. Fields Cookies, Nori Japanese Grill, Tony & Bruno's, China Town, Chick-Fil-A, Southwest Grill, and the Tango Grill.
~ Services Available ~
The Mall At Millenia offers valet parking services to those willing to pay the small $3.00 fee. This is located only at the main entrance to the mall. Of course, the mall also offers a Concierge (service desk) where a number of services are offered, including mall gift certificates, information services, currency exchange (foreign), and area attraction tickets. You can also get your purchased products gift wrapped for an extra charge, if you are buying them as a gift.
The mall stores accept cash and most major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex.
The mall has a post office located within. You can do everything that you do at a regular post office, including buying postage stamps and shipping letters and packages. This is very convenient to those hotels located near the mall because tourists can find the mall easier than the neighborhood post office.
The Mall At Millenia also has a taxi stand, if you are one of those people that dont drive or if you decide not to fight the Orlando traffic.
Mall hours are Monday through Saturday 10-9:30pm, and Sunday 11-7pm. The Mall At Millenia is easily accessible from Orlando International Airport, I-95, and the Florida Turnpike. The major attractions in the area are Disney World, Universal Studios, MGM Studios, Epcot, and Islands of Adventure. All are within minutes of the mall.
~*~ My Thoughts ~*~
As major shoppers, my best friend and I vowed to be at the doors the day the mall opened. And we were. But we were quite surprised to not find the mad rush of customers that we had expected. We were able to move through the mall, every time we went, with no problems at all. We probably ended up at this mall about six times before I moved from Florida. I wish I had more time to visit, but I would definitely go back again when I visit the Orlando area.
I thoroughly enjoy shopping. Along with baking, it is a total stress release for me. I can be happy just walking through the mall without buying anything, but I more often than not will leave with something in my hand. I found that especially true at The Mall At Millenia because they had a whole shop just for Yankee Candles. I am a candle addict and will never fail to purchase a candle if that store is in my site. I can never just pass by! But with some of my other favorite stores: Macys, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Bath & Body Works, Waldenbooks, Barnies, Williams-Sonoma, Coach, Crate & Barrel, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus. I think this mall would have been just perfect if they would have added Lord & Taylor as another anchor store. I would have been in heaven!
As with any mall, wear some walking shoes. Especially if there are tons of stores that interest you there. My friend and I managed to make it an all day affair once because we had so much shopping to do for Christmas that we managed to visit almost all of the stores. Its not anything near an outlet mall size, but I still would not want to be walking around in high heels. I can probably spend a few hours in Macys alone.
The inside and outside of the mall itself is tastefully decorated and modern in it's architecture. There are glass ceilings throughout the mall that allow visitors to look up at the Florida sunshine. That is, if you manage to get lucky and miss the rain. And of course this being a Florida mall, you cannot miss the palm trees located throughout the mall to add to the décor. Along with the water garden, LED screens for your viewing pleasure, and tiled flooring
you will definitely feel like you are not walking through an ordinary mall. Of course, there are bathrooms located conveniently throughout the mall, but I usually do not find myself frequenting them when at the mall with friends. Its my mother and her have to use every bathroom I see when out in public that I have to worry about while shopping.
The mall developers plan to build up the area around the mall. The mall will be centrally located and office buildings will be built up around it. There will also be a hotel in the immediate area. I dont know if they have decided to start building yet, but they had not 4 months ago when I left Florida.
The mall is very inviting, despite the fact that the mall is a little on the upper class side. A lot of the stores there are tailored to the high-end tourists. For cheaper shopping, you can head to the Florida Mall or the Orlando Fashion Square Mall. Both are about a 20-30 minute drive in opposite directions from the The Mall At Millenia. But if you like these types of stores and dont mind paying the extra cash, then feel free to visit this mall while you are in Orlando. I promise you will not be disappointed, I definitely wasnt any of the times that I went.
