Don't worry. There are no loooooooong words this time. It's simply a smart action flick, not a try hard at being deep action flick. =)

Matrix Revolutions ( Q & A special ) (Reply to this comment)
by yamahaspeakers
I have decided to try reviewing this movie in a question and answer format . So we will see how we go :

Q :Is the movie good ?
A :Yes

Q :Is it better than its first two parts ?
A :Just about as good as the original

Q :Was it redundant and repetitous in anyway ?
(as compared to its first two parts)
A :Except for the electrifying battle at Zion ,
yes ,off course , but it did not destroy the
movie , i understood and accepted its
redundancy

Q :Should we believe the negative criticisms
about the film ?
A :I think we all have our own perceptions on
things , who knows, yours might be
different from all those critics . plus...I
believe that if you truly liked the story
from the beginning , and you were not into it
just for the fancy clothes ,hip music , or
the ballet like martial arts, or for any
other side element of the movie , i believe
you will be satisfied and even be greatfull
that such a trilogy was created .

Q :Could you summarize what "Revolutions" was
about ?
A :Sure . It literally continues
where "Reloaded" ended . Neo in some sort of
comma .Zion still planning military action on
how to slow down the machines invasion . and
Agent smith continuing to multiply and form
his own army. Plus off course , Morpheus , the
believer in Neo, and still hoping that Neo
finds out soon enough on how to free Zion
from machine invasion . In between all of
this , we see more of the oracle , and learn
more about her fortune telling of Zions
destiny..that its path all depends on
Neos "choice" . And in between all of that
wondering ,the bullets flying( a spectacular battle in Zion between thousands of "evil" machines and what looked like 300 military manually controlled Zion machines) , the kungfu
action( the floating martial arts sequences continue with still a lot of crunch and bang left, particularly one between Morpheus, Trinity, and their guardian , against 6 of the "Merovingies?" soldiers ) , walls breaking , machines zooming left and right ,etc ..what more can one ask for . But i prefer to let you witness it yourself .

Q :Ok , but you must have noticed some flaw in
the movie . I mean how can a whole heap of
professional critics be wrong about their
disdain of the movie without a noticeable
flaw ?
A :Ok , fair enough. Maybe the climactic battle
between Neo and Agent Smith wasn,t that
spectacular nor that exciting to conclude the
entire trilogy. There , happy ?

Q :Thats it? No other flaws?
A :Personally , there were no other flaws . If
there were others , i would be open about
it . I am open that i am a great fan of
the story . i accept that the martial arts
sequences are all alike somehow( with the
defying gravity stunts ) , i accept all the
philosopical questions asked over and over
again throughout the enitre trilogy . I
accept all of its repetitious moments . The
Matrix is a movie about an excruciating
search for the truth . And in doing so ,
questions will be asked over and over .Fights
will be fought over and over . So if an
audience is impatient with its repetitions ,
then maybe its not their kind of story to
begin with .

Q :It seems your feelings about this movie are
quite strong . How would you rank the Matrix
trilogy in your list of all time favourite
movies ?
A :Ill try to put it simple , without misleading
others , and I might have to bet that even
those disappointed critics will agree with me
here . When the DVD set comes out , it is a
must have .

Matrix Migraine (Reply to this comment)

I've only seen the first Matrix and it made my head hurt, so I haven't seen the other two. But your review makes me want to see them, so I think it's a great review. Nice job! meg

but The Matrix is just about having fun, which is why I enjoyed this one and not the last one. here's some basic philosophy and a little religious imagery, that doesn't say anything, but I've read all the analys's and they mostly seem to be making it up.

Terminator? Terminator 1 and 2 did have depth, much more than The Matrix films. =D

Yeah, OK (Reply to this comment)

I am so sick to death of reviewers that think they are reviewing The Terminator. The Matrix series is, in the world of mass media, an extraordinarily deep and complex commentary on life, religion, and reality. It is so obvious that most reviewers have been raised on Curious George and never read anything more complex. For mass media, the Matrix series is the equivalent of great literature in that it requires you to THINK (the horror). And it may even require you to read some critical commentary by people smarter than yourself who "get it" (as is often the case with literature). If you don't get it yourself then seek help. Understanding what is going on adds to the experience and will make you a better reviewer. As it is you sound like a pablum fed being who is complaining about being given filet mignon because you have to chew.

Some have been rather harsh on this film (Reply to this comment)

Carl,

I just read a review in today's paper that gave this movie a C-.

Here's a paraphrased quote:

"..the Wachowskis must of hired the same soap opera-trained monkeys that Lucas secretly employed to write the recent Star Wars Episodes.."

OUCH! Funny, yes, but, OUCH! Lucas had nothing to do with it.

Glad you enjoyed it, regardless of what others may think. I'm curious how the Battle of Gondor will stack up against the Battle of Zion.

Strange, I was thinking bugs from Starship Poopers when I saw the Sentinel-swarm in action.
But now that you mention it, the Borg are more focused, coordinated, and selfless like the Sentinels were...

Later,

OCF.

I didn't like the movie, but I enjoyed reading your analysis and appreciate where you're coming from at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Yeah, I guess I'm destined to be different. When I enjoyed this film I thought, finally I'm an average Joe, then the majority hated it. Wont do my reputation as someone who just likes to be different any good.

LOL, I was surprised to see it at first, but then I realized who it was and it no longer shattered my confidence. Anyway, after he's told me that it's NH because I don't mention the plot enough, I just have to laugh. =D

"Well I'm right that I enjoyed it that much.

Since writing this I've had a read of some of the reviews elsewhere on the net, and they've not been favourable. Which surprises me, I thought it was amazing."

*grin* Well, don't stress out about that. That is one of the cool things about reviewing something before you read the other reviews on it, especially something on Opening Day (or before). I mean I am surprised at the opposite (all of the favorable reviews on it) personally but that is hopefully how things work out. Glad everyone wasn't as unimpressed with it as I was. We have four screens of it at the theater I work at and it would be awfully frustrating if nobody liked it.

I had to go read his version after seeing that rating and I left his review extremely ticked off.....

I've not seen this yet. I really wanted to... but now some dolt gave it all away and kinda ruined it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This review is far, far superior. Can't wait to read Dave's tomorrow. *evil grin*

Was going to review it tonight but would rather go to bed...

But I agree with you (much to my surprise!) - this is a great film. I think what made it really work was that it focused more on the fight between mankind and technology rather than the Matrix itself, adn got rid of most of the philosophical claptrap and all of Morpheus' pathetic whining... I mean speeches.

Full review tomorrow, but it'll be 5-star (as opposed to the one star I begrudgingly gave Reloaded - why can't I give a film zero stars when that's what it deserves?!?!?!)

Very nice review, Mr L, even though you are my archnemesis...
