Pros:Cultural background, love, life, and magic blended into one.
Cons:The multiple plots made this too complicated and boring in the middle of the story
The Bottom Line: This book was worth to read because it is interesting and giving you something new and different
Talking about a spice stores, owned by an old Indian Lady in the corner of the city. The spices is not the ordinary spices, it has something, it has soul and it has magic in every touch. People come and go there in that place to buy some spices, to be able to solve their life problems. They thought the old lady always able to help them solve everything until they know that the old lady has her own life problems.
I like this book because it is something which blend the greatness of love story, the magic and fantasy, and culture. I always like Divakaruni's book because she was always able to put the beauty of Indian culture in every scenes in her writing.
The plot is moving forward and backward, with many flashbacks which would help you finding the core of this story. The twists was well made and nicely done. I praised how Divakaruni made the opening of the story which really makes me wonder how the story would be brought to the end. The ending itself is a bit unpredictable, a little bit unexpectable, yet satisfactory.
This is one good novel you should read, because it is something different and original. OK, it is a little bit boring in the middle of the story, maybe it was because of the multiple story which getting cluttered in the way, but since it was able to be resolved, I don't think it was going to be a big problem.
