Pros: warmth
waterproofness
price
durability
silky-smooth nylon
Cons: weight
stuffed size
The Bottom Line: This is the best $150 sleeping bag I've ever seen. I've used it year round and always been comfortable, dry, and happy. Its a little bulky and heavy, though.

| jmthgrt's Full Review: The North Face Cat's Meow Reg |
I got an earlier model of this sleeping bag for Christmas when I was 17. After 7 years of backpacking, camping and traveling, this bag has held up phenomenally. The only reason I'm looking for a new bag is that synthetic insulation loses it's loft after a few years of use.
Materials:
The Cat's Meow uses the standard high-end Polarguard fill, all good sleeping bags pretty much use the same fill, so nothing notable here. I would like to give rave reviews to the nylon cover. Light as a feather and silky smooth next to the skin, this bag is a joy to sleep in. While the bag isn't waterproof the coating on the nylon will repel any moisture, unless the bag is actually sitting in a puddle. I've slept outside in a light drizzle before and woke up bone-dry (except for my face).
Cost:
~$150, a lot cheaper then when I got my bag and a great deal for such a nice bag. A person could easily spend $100 more on a similarly featured bag.
Size:
I'm 5'8" 150lb and I can sleep in this bag with a little extra length to spare, and lots of extra girth. I almost always use that extra space near my feet to store clothes so I've got something warm to wear in the morning. I wish the bag was a little tighter, just for warmth. When stuffed the bag is a little bulky, takes up quite a bit of room in the backpack, but this is a problem with all synthetic bags.
Weight:
2lb 13oz. Not exactly fast n' light, but just as good as a lot of down bags that are only a little bit warmer.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for an inexpensive technical sleeping bag that will keep you warm and dry then look no further, this is the bag for you. If you are looking for a high-performance bag, light, warm, and very small, then look at the down bags.
