Cons:Nearly impossible to manipulate small objects while wearing these.
The Bottom Line: A great pair of fleece gloves

This is a set of fleece gloves by Northface. They are 300 weight which is the warmer version of fleece (the warmest commonly available at outdoor stores.) So for most circumstances these are great gloves for cold weather.

Since I live in Southern California I have had very few chances to try these gloves out over the past two years. I have found them to be to hot for our environment (which is why they didn’t get reviewed sooner.) I first had them when I camped at Catalina. We went on a hike at night and the temperature was around 50 degrees. I had two fleeces on and these gloves when I started. Very soon after starting I took off the gloves and one of my fleeces. I tried to put the gloves on again later that night but they were just too hot. I was very warm with my northface fleece on anyways.

I used them recently at a football game. It was 50 degrees that night with a slight wind blowing through. At this particular game I was doing the chains on the field. The gloves kept me very warm, almost too warm. So I would recommend these gloves for the cold blooded out there or for those of you that frequently experience cold weather (35 degrees or below.)

The gloves also have some extra texture in key areas of the palm and fingers. This increases the friction between the glove and the other object. While the bare human hand has greater grip, these did a very good job and were about 75% as effective as bare hands. What I did notice that night at the football game was it made holding the box (the pole at the line of scrimmage) a little more comfortable then holding it bare. It definitely gave the hand a little more padding.

Much like other gloves, you will have a hard time manipulating smaller objects. The following football game I did the clip. As the name implies I clip a marker to the chain. I was unable to that job while wearing these gloves and therefore couldn’t wear them that night. But once nice thing about this glove is you can easily manipulate objects the size of a credit card. Unlike other gloves they aren’t bulky.
