Here is a game offering from THQ. The gameplay feels very Mercenaries related. But, how does this game stack up on its own? I will take a very in depth view of the world that is the Outfit. I will look and evaluate every aspect of the game and what it supports.

Storyline 70/100
Why not that high? Because this has been done one million times. Set in the world war 2 era, Americans must stop the advancing Nazi army. While this game takes a more arcade feel to it rather then a first-person shoot (Castle wolfenstien, Brothers in Arms: series, Call of Duty series) those games were more series and realistic then this offering, but its still the same basic offering as far as the story goes. Good vs. Evil, allies vs. Axis. If you have played one world war 2 themed game, you just about know the story to all of them. Now as far as the story setting itself apart just a bit. The outfit has you in control of one of three characters deep in enemy territory. What are you trying to do? Well simple total destruction of just about everything in sight. Defeat the evil nazi war machine. Like I said you wont get a unique storyline here, just the basic run of the mill WW2 game.
Character Selection 80/100
You get to pick from 3 different characters. They include
1.Captin Deuce Williams (leader of the outfit)
Primary Weapons- Bazooka, Heavy Bazooka, and Anti-Tank rifle
Secondary weapons- .45 Revolver, Frag Grenade
3. Lieutenant John Davis Tyler
Primary Weapons- Light rifle, rifle, Sniper rifle
Secondary Weapons- Trench shotgun, Molotov Cocktail
My personal favorite to be is Sergeant Thomas MAC Macintyre. I love using his flamethrower for destructive effects. I also feel that he is the most balanced character of the 3 making him the best pick for my taste, but the bazooka wielding leader is a close second, because I love that heavy firepower he offers. Too bad he is slow and takes a little too long reloading between shots with his primary weapons.
Graphics 85/100
While the graphics dont scream next Gen 360 standards, they are good enough. The cut scenes are done very well. They do manage to get all the little things right here. As all the characters, buildings, battle vehicles and environments seem to compliment each other very well. The explosions, mayhem and carnage that this game offers is also captured very well. While it doesnt seem to take your breath away it would be a top end PS2 or xbox game.
Gameplay 90/100
This game has very easy pick up and play gameplay. You should master the basic controls in maybe 15 minutes tops. The left analog stick moves you character, while the right analog stick aims your weapon. While the RT fires your primary weapon and the left trigger fires the secondary weapon. It comes very naturally and the controls are very responsive.
The gameplay uses the basic setup for the combat vehicles in this game. While I thought that the vehicles were a little more tough to navigate around the huge battle field, it really isnt that bad. The left analog moves the vehicle while the right analog aims the weapon. Again, sometimes you may get a little flustered, but overall the controls are responsive as well and you will get to where you want to be.
Vehicles and emplacements 90/100
While some of the allied and axis vehicles (tanks, heavy armored vehicles) look similar there are usually enough of a difference to keep them looking fresh for the most part. While some look similar others will look completely different. There are a total of 18 allied and axis vehicles at your disposal thoughout this game. While the emplacements also for the most part look similar that is almost expected, because both sides will generally use the same type of equipment. For emplacements think (.50 cal, Anti-Aircraft/tank weapons) there are a total of 12 for both sides.
As far as this goes it depends what strategic objectives you capture on what capabilities you have to finish the level. For example if during the early parts of a stage you capture a Motor pool & vehicles tent you will now have the ability to buy vehicles like the crocodile (tank), while the armory will allow the creation of weapons such as the Machine guns or artillery. Of course that is if you have enough Field units or FUs. These points are earned by destroying the enemy every way possible. These points are not hard to come by and are usually no problem to store up.
Multi-player mayhem 100/100
This game supports just about every type of multiplayer you could imagine. That really helps the longevity of this title. This game supports 2 player co-op mode, 2-8 player xboxlive matches. That really helps this title, with the fast and furious action of multiplayer. There are 3 different games you can play each with their own and unique fun.
1. Strategic victory- You must capture the majority of the strategic objectives on the map.
2. Death match- The side with the most enemy player kills wins.
3. Destruction- The player with the most Field Unit points wins the game.
All of the multiplayer matches are fun and easy to play. You can also play co-op 2 player mode over xboxlive. But, you can only play levels both people have defeated and to save progress you must finish the level.
xboxlive/content download . 100/100
Yes, as mentioned above this game does support online play. It also supports xboxlive market place downloadable content. What this means is gamers can expect new multiplayer maps and maybe new vehicles or weapons in the future.
Overall... 90/100
While there is no doubting that there is room for minor improvements here and there, this is a very well delivered first generation game. The voice acting is also done pretty well, as the dialogue as well. You will have lots of fun blasting away the German army in this ww2 game and is definitely worth the price of admission. Dont look at this game as anything more then its suppose to be. Its not suppose to be a realistic war simulation action game. Its suppose to have a very arcade run and gun blow everything up in your sight game. You must put the old reality check on hold. If you can manage that you will have a blast with this game. When you put all the pieces together, Graphics are very good, sound FX/music fit the game and the voice acting is good Along with all the multiplayer and content download goodness this game offers. The Outfit should be a proud game in your ever growing xbox360 library.
