| sblaydes's Full Review: The Pampered Chef Cookware Etc Small Nylon Turner ... |
Believe it or not, it had been a while since I had attended my last Pampered Chef party. So, a couple of months ago when my neighbor invited me to her home for a Pampered Chef party, I was anxious to see if there were any new hot products that I just might need to try out for myself. While there was a new line (to me) called Simple Additions, I was not interested in purchasing ceramic pieces of entertainment ware. No, I was looking for something simple yet practical. Yes, a kitchen gadget of sorts! When I spotted the Pampered Chef Cookware Small Nylon Turner 2340 in the catalog, I new that this would be the perfect accessory for my Pampered Chef Small Sauté Pan, item #2370.
For the remainder of this review I will be referring to the Pampered Chef Cookware Small Nylon Turner 2340 as the Small Nylon Turner.
~ Is smaller really better? ~
Truthfully, did I really need another nylon turner in my kitchen drawer, probably not. But I must confess that when using my small sauté pan I did find that the nylon turner I had been using was a bit large for the pan. Nothing that I couldnt handle, mind you, but for a price of $4.50, I decided that it was worth checking out!
My Small Nylon Turner measures in just shy of 10 inches in length from tip to tip including the spatula to the handle. The spatula portion itself is a little over 2 inches in width, while the length is approximately 4 inches. For what I use this turner for primarily, this has been the perfect size. So yes, I would have to say that in this case, smaller is better.
~ A few more details
~
The Small Nylon Turner is made from a Nylon product (perfect for non-stick cookware) and is black in color. It boosts an arched handle that I have found comes in handy because this turner fits (and stays) nicely in my spoon rest. (And the kitchen counter!) While it does have a hole on the end of the handle to allow you to hang this turner, my Small Nylon Turner stays nicely tucked away in one of my kitchen drawers. The only disadvantaged I could see with this turner would be if you had large hands. Being that this is a smaller sized turner, the handle on this turner is not exceptionally large. While I am able to grasp my hands onto the handle with no problems I would imagine that a football player (for example) with large hands might find it a bit harder to grasp onto. But for my purposes, it poses no problems whatsoever.
When it comes to cleaning my Small Nylon Turner I do appreciate the fact that I can either hand wash, or
place it in the dishwasher for an even easier clean up. There has been the occasion where I have made cheesy eggs early (emphasis on early) in the morning for my son or daughter to eat in the car on the way to a swim meet. I usually dont have the time to quickly clean my Small Nylon Turner so more than likely I leave it sitting out next to my small sauté pan on the stove. When I get home I find that my Small Nylon Turner has a nicely caked egg and cheese concoction on it. No problem! I soak it in water for a few minutes and usually I can wipe this concoction right off the turner. Occasionally I have to scrape a bit more with my Pampered Chef Nylon Pan Scraper but it does come right off. I am happy to say that this Small Nylon Turner looks as good as the day I got it.
According to the Pampered Chef web site, All nylon tools are dishwasher safe, heat-safe to 428°F (220°C) and won't melt or crack. I will have to take their word on this, as I dont anticipate ever having my Small Nylon Turner in the oven at any temperature. I will be using only on my stovetop when it comes to cooking. As I mentioned above, so far
this turner looks brand new.
Make sure that when you get your Small Nylon Turner that you dont throw away your receipt. Why? The Small Nylon Turner comes with a one-year guarantee from Pampered Chef. Whats the catch? Not only listed on the Pampered Chef web site, but also located on the backside of your receipt of purchase is the Certificate of Guarantee. Basically what it boils down to is that if you need to return this item, or any other Pampered Chef item, you have to have your original sales receipt. Over the years I have found that the best way to remember where I have put my darn Pampered Chef receipt is by filing it under Miscellaneous in my file cabinet. The consultant from this party mentioned that she has always placed her receipts underneath her silverware in her silverware drawer.
I guess that I would be remise if I didnt mention that the only way you can purchase one of these Small Nylon Turners is from a Pampered Chef consultant. So stop looking for it at your local store! If you can not find a consultant in your area you can go to the Pampered Chef web site for help.
~ Yep! Smaller is better! ~
For a mere $4.50 I have found that the Small Nylon Turner really does make a nice addition to my kitchen drawer full of kitchen utensils. While I primarily use it to cook with my sauté pan, I have also used it when taking brownies out of the pan, and also for dishing out pie. You have to love the fact that it can be used on non-stick cookware which I find myself using more and more of everyday. I give this the Pampered Chef Cookware Small Nylon Turner 2340 as the Small Nylon Turner a big two thumbs up for great performance and quality.
