| lavoisier's Full Review: The Perfect Pancake |
If you're like me, you probably like to make pancakes for breakfast say like every Sunday, but you always tend to ruin those pancakes right? Well, since I make pancakes every Sunday morning for breakfast, I know how hard it is to even cook them with the non-stick pan and had to use some unsalted butter for that. Most of the time, my pancakes weren't even perfectly round like those that I've seen on TV or magazine clippings. But one night when I was watching television and I saw the short commercial on the Perfect Pancake offering, I have already thought of ordering one of these, so that I can make some perfect pancakes for my family, friends and company for breakfast or snacks. I was hesitant at first, but then I picked up the phone and ordered the Perfect Pancake and I was surprised at how easy it was to go under the ordering process.
Using the Perfect Pancake
About 4 weeks after I've ordered the Perfect Pancake, I finally received the package just like the one that was advertised on television. It came with the Perfect Pancake, no drip batter dispenser, heart shape pancake mold and a recipe guide. So, on the Sunday morning after I received the Perfect Pancake, I tried making just the plain pancakes with the classic all-purpose flour and egg batter and poured the batter into the no-drip batter dispenser. With the dispenser, I just push the spring-loaded switch on top and I've dispensed batter into the curved side of the pan, where you start cooking your pancake, without any drippings and mess, like I would use a Pyrex measuring cup.
But remember though, this pan isn't intended to be used under very high heat as it can damage the foundation of the pan and it could damage or force the non-stick surface to peel off the cooking surface. So a medium low heat should be enough heat to really cook a pancake properly without burning the surface of the pancake. Once bubbles form throughout the surface of the batter, you know it's ready to be flipped over to brown and cook the other side of the pancake. Flipping the pancake was easy, because you just close the flat side of the pan and place the flat side of the pan on the burner. Immediately I got myself a perfectly browned pancake, which is perfectly round too and it was done without ever using a spatula or professional flipping. I thought it would have been stuck to the surface of the pan, but it just doesn't stick, like the commercial said. Then I continued making more pancakes until I ran out of batter and that was the end of my first trial of cooking pancakes with the Perfect Pancake.
You don't have to make plain pancakes with the Perfect Pancake here, you can make blueberries, mixed berries, apple cinnamon, buttermilk flapjacks, chocolate chips, double or even triple chocolate. But don't just limit the use for just pancakes either, because you can make grilled cheese sandwiches, warm BLT, tuna melts, tasty French toast, or even eggs in a basket, over easy eggs without ever breaking the yolk and crepes.
With the heart shaped pancake mold bundled in the package, I can create heart shaped pancakes for a special occasion, like for a Valentines breakfast for my girlfriend. Just like those plain round pancakes, you can also make these heart shaped pancakes very easily too.
But the only problem I experience with the Perfect Pancake is that the pans don't separate for making 2 separate frying pans or to make crepes much more easily than what it is right now with the Perfect Pancake. But it's not much of a big deal.
Some of you may notice that the Perfect Pancake doesn't close all the way, is because it was designed to let the steam out of the pan to prevent soggy pancakes that could very well ruin your breakfast. With the double-sided non-stick surface, clean up is a breeze and it just takes a paper towel or just a brief rinse of water to just clean the pan, in addition to eliminating all the unnecessary calories from adding butter or fat to cook the pancakes. Yes, you don't even have to soak the pan to lift off the food particles off the surface of the pan.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I find that this has been one of my best $30 that I've spent (including S&H) and it's really worth the money if you really want pancakes that are very professional and clean. Besides being a great invention, it really holds itself to be one of the most reputable products offered on TV, because it makes our life easier when it comes to making pancakes. I definitely look forward to using it almost every Sunday morning for my pancakes.
