Pros:-Great connection for teenagers/young adults
-Interesting 1st person point of view
Cons:-Contains extreme sexual themes and contents
-Contains extreme drug information
-Very emotional (could be a good thing)
The Bottom Line: If you're a teen or a young adult experiencing drama, stress, and/or depression then I highly suggest it as it's extremely inspiring and entertaining to read.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky reflects exactly how most teenagers feel in this day of age, emotional. The book follows the life of a freshman in high school named Charlie, who writes to the reader through letters.

Throughout the book, Charlie goes through teenage growing up experiences, friends and enemies, and lots and lots of hormones. He befriends two older teens, Sam and Patrick, and one of his teachers whom Charlie writes essays on various books such as "To Kill a Mocking Bird" and "Hamlet". He also attends various parties and social events and deals with the commotion between other adults.
Most teens growing up in the 21st century will definitely connect to the story and the characters, and can even inspire some. The book contains some very adult content such as sex, drugs, and so on.
I wouldn't recommend reading this unless you were around 15-16 yeards of age at the minimum. It also contains lots of "drama" in case you like or don't like that. Violence and bullying is also a common theme presented.
Overall I would highly recommend it for teens who are going through lots of stress and depression, who would like a relaxing, inspiring, and relating story.
