Pros:Gives a great "shell" for praying for your husband!
Cons:A little too short for months with thirty-one days
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this book to any wife who wishes not only to bless her husband, but for any wife who wishes her relationship with God to grow.
One of the most important things you can do for someone you love is to pray for them. Who better to pray for than "the love of your life"?
Although, my husband and I have only been married for a little over three years, I would say that we have a pretty good marriage. We have vowed to stayed together for life. But, as the Bible says, "unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it". I want the Lord to build my house. One of the best ways that I see to allow god to do this is to pray to Him.
Having said all of this, let us know take a look at the book. In the book, The Power of a Praying Wife, Stormie O'Martin addresses thirty different areas in which a wife can pray for her husband. These areas include His Wife, His Affection, His Fatherhood, His Walk, and twenty-six areas. The way the book is divided makes it perfect to do one chapter each day. The only drawback is that for months with thirty-one days, there is no chapter. However, if you are a praying person, I am sure you can come up with a thirty-first area in which a wife can pray for a husband.
I love how the book starts out with praying for His Wife. Jesus discusses how can we point out a speck in someone else's eye when we have a moat in our own. Therefore, by first praying that the Lord change my heart, it prepares my heart and my mind to pray for my husband.
In my opinion the book gives a great outline or shell for praying for my husband. The book gives Scripture to back up each area. Stormie also gives a model prayer as an example for each area.
I would recommend this book to any wife who wishes not only to bless her husband, but for any wife who wishes her relationship with God to grow.
As always, I would encourage anyone using this book, or any other Christian book, to keep her Bible close at hand to reference the Scripture on any points Mrs. O'Martin makes.
