Great Mystery Novel

Pros:Well-written, easy to read mystery book
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: Great mystery book with plenty of suspense and an unique plot.
The main plot of the book is about a reporter (Simon) trying to get some barely discussed book on a government scandal and he gets an offer to have it published if he first does another book. This other book is a biography of the 1970s U.S. President Hayward, who everyone thinks was the beacon of morality. The book is to bring back the memory of this moral President to help his equally moral son for his bid for the presidency. In researching for the book Simon discovers that this moral President had one moment of immorality that ended up with an illegitimate daughter and the mother of the girl (his mistress) being killed and the murder never being solved. The story never reached the public about his affair and even fewer people knew about the girl, who grew up raised as the real daughter of a single Mom. The book evolves as Simon unravels the whole story and the daughter learns of her true parents when her life is in danger of being killed by the same person who killed her mom 30 years before. Thus the first half of the book leads up to her learning her past and the reader seeing how the story is discovered by Simon and the second half is about trying to protect the daughter and find the murderer before it is too late.
I found this book easy to read and hard to put down. The plot flows together very well switching between settings in a pretty seamless way. There are many twists in the plot to keep you on your toes, although there are also some pretty predictable parts. I love how so many hints are in it to things that come later in the book. One of the best things about the book is that it wraps the story up very well at the end.
