KCFemme's Full Review: Jeffrey Archer - The Prodigal Daughter
Once finished with the wonderful book, Kane & Abel, I couldn't wait to go on with the story. Jeffrey Archer presented his second book in a very unique way. Normally sequels are a continuation of the past. This one was instead the past from different eyes that also took us into the future.

The Prodigal Daughter - The Story
==========================================
The story focuses on the lives of two different people, instead of focusing on William Kane & Abel Rosnovski as in the previous book, he focuses most of his attention on on Richard Kane and Florentyna Rosnovski, the son and daughter of the two men who began a horrible feud.
As Florentyna grew up she was given the best of everything. Her father wanted to make sure she had every opportunity to become whatever she wanted in life. From a very young age, she had known. Her first word, Presidunk, Her first teddy bear named FDR, and at the age of 7, she asked for her fathers support when she ran for President of the United States.
Richard Kane grew up much like his father, the same schools, the same society, and even the same goals. To one day take over as Chairman of his father's bank.
The interesting thing about the story from this point of view is that you also learn a lot more about the story of Kane and Abel and their feud. A lot of small gaps that you never knew were there are filled in with details to make the story so much more.
And once again, the lives of two people who meet in their young adult lives have a major impact on the people around them. Florentyna, deciding to go into fashion designs; and Richard, who continues with his banking education finally meet because of three pairs of gloves.
Without any knowledge of their fathers' past, without any knowledge of the feud, they find that they truly love each other. And they are perfect for each other. Their strengths compliment each others flaws, one's logic helps even out the others passions ... and the other way around.
The rest of the story is of their singular goal and how they work to achieve it. Every step they make is in the direction of allowing Florentyna to one-day make the acceptance speech at her own inauguration that she began writing at the age of seven.

The Prodigal Daughter - The Characters
==========================================
Richard Kane - He's just like his father, logical, mathematical, and strives for success. But there is one main difference between them, Richard actually listens to his heart. Even though he hopes to follow in his fathers footsteps, he still wants to be his own individual.
Florentyna Kane - Although she strives for perfection and is always eager to learn, she is also rather emotional. Through her fathers contacts she quickly finds a love for politics and is able to quickly discuss what is going on in the world. She is proud of her heritage, but also wants to be recognized for her own achievements.

The Prodigal Daughter - The Moral
==========================================
Love can conquer all. Even though there was a strong hatred between the fathers of these two, the love of these two "children" was able to finally breech the gap that was caused long before.
In the end, sometimes something as simple as forgiveness can change lives. There is so much in the world to be thankful for that harboring bad feelings toward people just isn't productive.

The Prodigal Daughter - My Recommendation
==========================================
This was the second Jeffrey Archer book I've read and it certainly lived up to the impression I was given in the first. I highly recommend this be read after Kane & Abel so you get the true story.
