after a five-hour chemical stress test on Thursday, I'll start eating this way, too. I've already cut out all starchy vegetables, pasta, most dairy, fruit and candy, but I've been having one piece of whole wheat bread a day with my poached eggs. I'm 21 on a hold list of 74 at the library, so it may be a while until I can read what the good doctor has to say. I thought this review was just fine.

Because my rate falls below that of everyone else to this point, please indulge my leaving an explanation.

You do an excellent job of describing the diet, your reason for selecting it, your success to date following this diet.

But I find little information about how the book encouraged you to adopt this diet. How the book explained the scientific basis for the diet and its various phases. How the book guides the reader through the implementation of the diet. How the book encourages the reader to stay on the diet. How useful the book is in the longer term maintenance of the diet.

As a review of the diet and your success with it, it is indeed 'Very Helpful'.

As a review of the book itself, it is 'Helpful' to this user.

Others opinions obviously differ.

...Atkins and haven't had a problem with it, however I know that everyone is different and it is best to go with whatever eating plan works best for you.

I'm finishing up my second week of induction and feel great. I know I've lost at least five pounds and will wait until Tuesday for a final weigh in. I have a lot to lose and am feeling hopeful.

I do have South Beach on hold at the library, because I think that what I'll finally end up with is a combination of several books for my eating plan.

Thanks for the great review...and best of luck to you as you lose weight....kaht

I hate the word diet (Reply to this comment)

I am not overweight by textbook standards but my waistline isn't what it used to be. (Partly due to 2 kids!)I know a bit about ketosis and kidney functions, having a diabetic son, so I'm very very skeptical of high protein diets.

However, this sounds different. I just recently quit coffee on a daily basis. I may have a cup once a week. But I can relate to shakes and cravings. Now I'm over it. So I'm sure this is similar.

Great review,

Peggy
