About Me: A wife ... a mom ... and a Witch

The simple truth about Witchcraft - perfect for parents

Written: Sep 28 '00
Pros:a wonderful simply written overview of a rapidly growing religious path
Cons:if you don't accept things outside traditional religion you won't find much of use here

If you are looking for a book which will educate you (or someone else) about the generalities of Wicca please consider this small text as your first purchase. The basic beliefs and practices of the faith are put forth in this brief title by the late Scott Cunningham.

This book makes a wonderful resource for someone who has felt the pull toward Witchcraft, but truly doesn't know the first thing about it.

This book makes a wonderful gift for one's parents, if you should follow the Wiccan religion and they do not.

In under 200 pages, Mr. Cunningham details the Wiccan faith. He explains the lore, the practices, and the core beliefs. He dispels half-truths and misconceptions about the Craft and does so in an easy-to-understand and non-threatening manner.

It covers:

-- the use of herbs, crystals, colors and candles in magick
-- nudity and sex and whether they are a part of the Path
-- the holidays which correspond to the cycles of nature
-- the God and Goddess
-- it even gives examples of Wiccan ritual, as well as spellwork

This is the only book of its kind. One which is geared, not toward the practitioner, but toward the "outsider", the curious and the concerned. It was originally published in 1988, and has lost nothing for the passage of more than a decade.

If you are Wiccan - buy this for the ones you love.

If you're curious about Witchcraft and Magick but don't really understand how they relate to religion - buy this book for yourself.

If your son or daughter is involved in the Craft and it worries or frightens you, read this book and be reassured.
