TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer conceals day AND night. A concealer and treatment in one.
Written: Aug 13, 2012
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Pigmented, concentrated, contains anti aging ingredients, conceals pretty well, can sleep in it
Cons:Doesn't completely cover my dark circles for more than a few hours.
The Bottom Line: TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer has been a favorite of mine for years. For day and nighttime wear. Versatile, good for the skin.
I have been using TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer for years. I like the little pot and sponge and the fact that it is *supposed* to be a wrinkle treatment as well as concealer. Mostly I wear this if I am away and don't want to wake up with my dark under eye circles glaring. I can sleep in it and it's good for my skin.
About the Product
Conceals dark under eye circles with soft pigment. Neutralizes free radicals, brightens, conditions and moisturizes. Smoothes and prevents visible signs of aging. Packaged in a miniature pot and accompanied by an application sponge.

Packaging
This concealer comes in a small .25 ounce clear plastic pot with a screw on/off lid. There is a small sponge nestled on the top of the concealer. It doesn't have a separate compartment. There are a few shades but I close Light/Medium because I have Medium skin tone and like to use concealer a touch lighter than my skin, especially around my eyes. The small pot is about a nickel size around and the concealer is thick, almost hard packed cream.
My Experience
I must have or have had 100 concealers and that is no exaggeration. My biggest beauty flaws in my opinion are the dark circles I was born with which deepened with age. I always look sick, tired or both. I don't have a lot of other skin issues like blemishes but I have a few spots that I like to diminish the look of with concealer.
TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer is one I tried ages ago and liked but it didn't quite do the job long term concealing my dark circles. However, it's perfect for quick touch ups and I use it when I go away (especially when I am seeing people when I first wake up) at night so that circles aren't quite as dark and scary looking in the morning. Because this is a treatment and a concealer in one, I don't feel as though I am sleeping in my makeup although I actually am, I suppose.
The consistency of this concealer is super thick and needs to be warmed a bit so that it will glide onto the skin. I generally don't use the sponge but dot the concealer on with my fingers then gently blend it. I use the sponge now and then to apply concealer around my nose where there are little red veins but the little sponge is really not a necessity for me. I find that the concealer works the same whether I use my fingers, a brush, or the sponge.
Light/Medium is exactly that. It is nude colored with very slight yellow undertones. It is just a shade lighter than my facial skin but blends well and doesn't show when applied on my face.
When I use this concealer under and around my eyes, it does conceal my circles and brightens the area but it doesn't last more than a few hours without fading some. Touching up is easy however and the concealer doesn't cake or settle into fine lines.
I really like though, that the concealer contains good for the skin ingredients that actually make it healthy to wear to bed. I usually use a night cream but sometimes, when we are away on a weekend vacation or even a longer one, I will use TimeBalm to prep for the next day. I apply it on clean skin and go to bed. When I get up, it is still working to conceal my circles albeit somewhat faded. If I see someone when I first get up (especially when camping), my circles aren't so prominent and I don't look made up.
I have not had any issues with TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer irritating my eye area or my eyes, stinging, drying out my skin or otherwise causing me any difficulties. I can wear a light cream under it or even over it. I sometimes mix a little bit of the concealer with my usual cream for a slight tint under my eyes. It works!
However, I should interject here that while this concealer seems to be fine when I use it at night, I don't see any anti wrinkling results or any particular anti aging benefits. However, this product does contain Retinyl Palmitate which is a retinoid which can work to fight fine lines and aging skin. It also has some powerful hydrators that can plump and nourish the skin.

Buying Info
TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer in all the shades they sell is available online at beauty sites but it is no longer being sold at Sephora where I always bought it before. It's easy to find but a few places I used to buy the concealer from stopped carrying the brand. The price is about $16.00 to $18.00 and a little pot lasts for ages. It is concentrated and highly pigmented.
Conclusion
I like TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer and have for ages. It's not my concealer of choice for my dark circles all the time but it's great for touch ups and for overnight use. It doesn't irritate my eyes and it hydrates the area while keeping my dark circles at bay. I think those with less severe circles will find that this concealer works well for them. It's packed with good for the skin ingredients although it does have parabens and chemicals as well. Still, I give it 4 stars for its versatility and coverage.
