Pros: Great concept, not messy
Cons: Too small; some people may be allergic.
The Bottom Line: If a 2x3 inch patch will meet your needs, by all means purchase this product. I think there are better, more effective products available. Keep shopping.

| Suzer's Full Review: Therapatch Warm Capsaicin, Penetrating Pain Relief... |
I know you are waiting with bated breath, dying to know why I would need to make a purchase of this kind. Well, okay, I'll share it with you. I somehow injured the lower right portion of my back. No clue what I did. It may be my dog, Lacy, pulling on our walks; old age, who knows? One day I was at work where I have to walk two blocks to and from the office for parking. One of my coworkers noted I was moving so slowly in the crosswalk someone would likely run me down! Anyway, I needed relief, and though I have a prescription pain killer (half of it kills a little pain; the whole pill knocks me out, and I can't function), so I thought a pain patch would be the way to go. I have been very pleased with the effectiveness of the Thermacare patch for menstrual cramps, so thought this would be quite similar, and more appropriate for my lower back pain.
What is this product?:
This is a cloth patch that adheres to your skin with adhesive (it sticks), and contains a pain relieving product.
What should it be used for:
You can use it to alleviate pain, tenderness from back pain as I tried to do, athritic conditions, or pain from tension (neck, etc.), or if you have a small area you strained or sprained.
Directions for use by the manufacturer:
This product can be used by either adults or kids over 2 years of age.
Packaging:
I do like that each patch is packaged individually. You just tear or cut open the pouch, and remove the card that is enclosed and place the patch on the area that is causing you pain. You can only do it 2 to 3 times daily. You must wash your hands after use.
They do not suggest for use before any exercise or stretching. It is just not the right product for that.
Ingredients from packaging:
Active Ingredients: Contains: Capsaicin 0.09%
Inactive Ingredients: Acrylic Ester Copolymer, Eucalyptus Oil, Glycerin, Karaya, Methyl Salicylate, Propylene Glycol, Spearmint Oil
Warnings:
There are numerous warnings on this product. Some people may have sensitivites to this product (Capsaicin), so if you do, don't use in the first place, or if you discover an allergic reaction, stop using immediately. You might want to test on a small spot first.
Heat, water or perspiring heavily may make the product ineffective.
Where can you find it?:
You may well be able to find it at your drugstore, but you can most easily purchase it online.
My experience:
As noted previously I do like the packaging, and on the plus side, though I have sensitive skin, the product did not effect me in a negative way. However, the entire right side of my lower back was bothering me and this tiny, pathetic sized little patch did almost nothing for me. Yes, they indicate you can use several of the patches all at once, but I think it is stupid to use 4, 5, 6 tiny patches together, when I could just as easily purchase a package of 4-6 of the right size that will actually help me. I gave up on these useless little patches, and instead used one that I purchased for menstrual cramps. My body did not reject it because it was not the appropriate time of the month, and it works! If you wish, my review of the patch for menstrual cramps is listed below. I purchased this product online also, and it can be used for any painful area, covers more territory, and provides soothing warmth.
I also would not risk giving this to a child for use, or place it on their skin. Their hands go into their mouths too frequently to take the risk.
Final thoughts and recommendations:
As you may have ascertained, I think this is an overpriced, mostly useless product that I shall not purchase a second time. If you have a tiny spot that is hurting, and want to spend $4.99 for 6 2x3 patches, feel free to do so. I think there are more cost-effective ways of relieving your pain. I am giving it 2 1/2 stars.
