Pros: Beautifully made, comes with an unconditional lifetime guarantee, collectible, safe.
Cons: Paint chips off all these characters over time, but this falls under the guarantee.
The Bottom Line: Expensive, but well worth it. A great little engine for any Percy fan aged 2 to 7.

| dagny21's Full Review: Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends: Percy The Smal... |
This Christmas is a Thomas the Tank Engine Christmas in our house. My 2-year-old son is a huge fan of the series, and I just recently discovered Learning Curve's Thomas & Friends wooden railway system. These toys are a bit more expensive than most other toys, particularly for the size, but it seems well worth it.
One of my son's favorite characters on the show - even above Thomas himself - is cheerful little Percy, so he was at the top of our list when we went on our first ever online shopping spree for Thomas the Tank Engine stuff.
When I got the the package in the mail, the first thing I noticed about Percy is how well he is made. He's made mostly of expertly painted maple, with a plastic face and wheels, and a bit of steel holding it all together. He's very small, but his magnet is quite powerful, and my son is going to love him.
I did notice that like Henry (the one engine we gave him to play with between now and Christmas), the paint will probably gradually chip off of Percy with play, but this is covered by Learning Curve's unconditional lifetime guarantee against breakage or damage. I could hardly believe it was true that they would replace engines with chipped paint even years down the road, but I spoke to them ahead of time to put my mind at ease, and they will indeed.
When my husband saw the size of this toy (and all of the others by learning curve), the first thing out of his mouth was "We paid how much for that little thing!?" But now after seeing my son play with one of the engines for a little while, he now thinks they're worth every penny.
