A Great Dessert Place

Written: Jan 27 '00
Pros:Excellent sweet crepes
Cons:Long waits

Ti Couz, located in the Mission District of SF, is a great little place serving up savory and sweet crepes. Although the wait and the neighborhood can be a hassle, if you're in the mood for a crepe, then this is the place to go.

The savory crepes are entree-like, and you can choose various ingredients (meats, veggies, and sauces) to put together your perfect combo. All in all, a decent meal. But if you're going to Ti Couz, then you better be going there for the sweet crepes.

Ti Couz will serve the crepes traditional-style or will make a hard crepe similar to an ice cream cone. You can select off of their menu what combo you'd like, or you can put together your own masterpiece. I highly recommend opting for the traditional-style crepe -- why come to a crepe place and get an ice cream cone??? You can add caramel sauce, strawberries, vanilla ice cream -- you name it, you can put it together.

In it's very intimate setting, this is a great place to take a date. Nothing too intimidating about the atmosphere and cozy enough to talk. Plus, at the end of the night, you won't have spent over $20 (unless you're drinking heavily). Ti Couz recently added a bar next to the restaurant -- it's dark and roomy. But why go to the bar? Try a crepe!!

Things to watch out for: the wait. Ti Couz has this crass set-up where you put your name on a chalkboard when you get in. Not the best way to do it, but hey, it adds to the rustic charm of the joint. Also to watch out for: the neighborhood. The Mission district is a great area, but the parking can get difficult and the neighborhood sometimes rowdy.

My suggestion is to go later at night just for dessert. The wait won't be as bad and the parking lets up a little after dinner hours. Put out the extra $10 that night and go share a crepe.
