Pros: Works well for breath upkeep, easy to conceal.
Cons: Does not work well for strong flavors such as garlic or onions.
Tic Tacs are a popular breath mints that are easily recognized. If one shakes the plastic container, the rattling is distinctive and recognized by most. These eraser-sized mints fit into ones purse or pocket very easily. As they are smaller, they are discreet and do not release a very strong flavor. There are many flavors available such as peppermint, cinnamon, spearmint and orange. I have tried the orange mints on a few occasions although I tend to prefer those with a "mintier" flavor. It is nice to have an option that is fruit flavored when you are looking for something a bit different.
Many of the mints available today have an extremely strong flavor and are often too much for my liking. These mints advertise their strong flavor but I prefer something softer on the taste buds. Tic Tacs work well when I need a mint that does not require a strong flavor.
Tic Tacs Orange Mints are easy to recognize as their flavor matches their coloring. They are extremely small as with the other varieties and are often unnoticed inside of the mouth. They do have a sugary orange flavor that is recognizable and lasts for a few minutes after eating one. The flavor is not overly strong and work nicely for a brief clean up of the mouth. If you have eaten garlic or onions, they do not seem to work quite as well. When I have eaten anything with a strong flavor, these Tic Tacs do not seem to work as well to block out the breath that was left behind. If more than one is eaten, is done work a little better but does not seem to cover what I need. The orange flavoring does not work as well as the minty varieties. I do find that the mint flavors work better but still struggle with strong items such as garlic or onions. They can easily be bitten into without any tooth damage or can simply be left in the mouth to dissolve. Usually a few minutes is only needed for one to dissolve in your mouth. Tic Tacs are also small enough that you do not really need to worry about choking on them. They are smaller than your average pill. I would recommend keeping them away from smaller children though.
These Tic Tacs are contained in the same plastic box that all varieties come in and are easy to store. The clear plastic box provides some protection from moisture and being smashed into smaller pieces. The plastic box can be broken if sat or stepped on so one still needs to be a bit cautious with the container. The box has a flip top that makes the dispensing of a mint easy. The flap snaps shut when it is closed properly.
Each Tic Tacs contains only one calorie and provide no nutritional value, good or bad. Each Tic Tacs contains half a gram of carbs and does not register on the daily percentage value list. This product contains sugar, maltodextrin, tartaric acid, artificial flavors, arabic gum, rice starch, magnesium, stearate, ascorbic acid, yellow 6 and carnauba wax. These mints are fat free and do not contain any cholesterol.
Overall, these mints work nicely for those moments when you want to freshen your breath. If you have eaten items such as garlic and onion which produce a strong flavor, I would recommend another option. They are small and easily concealed so you do not need to advertise that you wanted to freshen up some. The flavor preference is a bit of choice and would likely be ideal for those that do not enjoy a minty flavor and want something more subdued.
These mints are found in most stores that feature a gum/candy/mint aisle and costs about $1.
