Pros: Does well on cat-along trips and short stays at cat-sitter.
Cons: Does not handle a large feline. Does not last too long.
The Bottom Line: I find that the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One is great for cat-along trips and short visits at a sitters home. Not good for everyday use.

Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One. What a novel idea. Though I don't think it's exactly what I'd want to use in my home.
I recently went to visit my Dad. He lives just about 300 miles from me. I have one cat that has traveled with me for many years. You might could say that she is a "cat on the go". She has been to Florida, Georgia, California, Arizona, and 6 other states in her life time. She travels well and does do a fine job in the behavior department when it comes to a rest stop. But she is getting old and things tend to startle her more in her later years. Cars and the sounds they make. Strangers approaching her, etc. So I had to come up with a solution to the potty stop routine.
This is where the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One makes it's entrance. My traveling companion has never had the need for a carrier. She sits on her side of the seat without incident. But, I was worried about stopping now and having things frighten her as she tried to take her potty break. I noticed the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One in the pet store and decided I'd give it a go when we took our next trip to my Dad's, which was this past weekend. I must say that it worked just fine.
What I did was open the box up and set it in the back floor board behind the drivers seat. I did that because I am a short person and I have to have the drivers seat up really close to the steering wheel and that gives more room behind me for whoever or whatever is in the back seat. Or more room for setting things behind me. This worked out well.
My old gal took to it right away. Now, I have to tell you that for a few minutes after your cat uses the litter box, especially if she/he goes poo-poo, you will have a strong odor that might just over take you! It fades pretty quick though, if your cat covers things up properly. I have one cat that refuses to cover anything up! But this little girl does.
She used her Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One 2 times on the way to my Dads and 3 times on the way back. I also used it while I was visiting, which was 2 days. It held up pretty well I have to say.
One thing that I did find to be a problem with the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One was the fact that the box will get damp with urine. I say this because, though it is made from a sturdy plastic like coating on the box, it still collapses and gets cracks in it, so it could pose a problem if you had to use it for very long. I don't think that you really could use this for 7 days like the box says you can. Though it has a 7 day supply of litter, please do not attempt to use the box itself for 7 days. Not a very pleasant odor after a while and it will fall apart at the seams.
The box itself is not all that big. Certainly not large enough for a bigger feline. My gal is fairly small, so it was fine for her. But if Zerbert, my monster cat, was to use it, well, I am afraid it just would not do. It weighs 8.5 pounds. Not too bad. But the box is only adequate in size. Great for a kitten though. Or even two. I would say that if it is a kitten that you bought the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One for, then it will most likely last for 7 days.
All you need to do is zip the box open and raise the lid. Then when you are all done with it, close the lid and dispose of it properly. If you live in town, I suppose that one would want to place it in a very heavy duty garbage bag. But since I live in the country, I just dump the litter in the road(dirt road) and throw the box away or burn it. I realize that throwing the litter in the road may seem somewhat nasty to you but I assure you that it is not. What it does do is help cut down on the dust factor and the waste disappears within a day or two. No worse than the cats going to do their business in the road, which they do on a regular basis.
Another draw back with using the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One is the fact that after it collects so much urine, it tends to become very heavy. Think about that. It starts out weighing 8.5 pounds as it is. Too much weight. Like dropping your toilet paper in the commode on accident. It swells something terrible before you can fish it out. Same with this box. And the smell.....! The ammonia is enough to cause you to pass out.
What the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One does have is: a patented system that is suppose to neutralize urine odors. And does to a certain extent. Time released fragrance for odor control. Seems to do this pretty well. An antimicrobial agent that controls the growth of odor causing bacteria. Enough litter for 7 days. I question that one. And the ease and simplicity of operation.
I can not say that I would recommend this to everyone, but on the other hand, I can recommend it in certain circumstances. Like traveling, hotel rooms, visiting relations, etc. If you have no care in the world for money, then I suppose I could recommend it for you also. But for the average Joe, one does not want to spend 4.89 every 2 or 3 days for cat litter and a box. So in my honest opinion, this is not an economical way to give your cat a poopy box. Not for everyday use. But I do recommend that next time you have to take your cat on a trip or to a friends for an over nighter while you are away, then please, by all means, give the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One a try. I think that you will be pleased with it in that respect.
I would like to add this. It is not a clumping litter that is in the box. It is the conventional clay litter. It is just souped up a bit for longer endurance. But the box could certainly be made better. I doubt that will happen though because the cost would far out weigh the benefits of buying it.
Over all, I recommend the Tidy Cats Disposable Cat Box and Litter in One to people on the go who's cat accompany them or for the one or two day visit at a sitters home. I do not recommend it for a full time solution.
