callaway9198's Full Review: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 for Xbox
OK, this review is written out of pure un biased opinions.I say this due to the fact that I am an avid golfer.
Player Selection
Wow.This game sports a gigantic variety of golfers.Ranging from real tour players to even some funny and yet challenging golfers.The players I can say are definitely not cliched.
Gameplay
Now this is what makes you stay glued to your seat and play on.There are many modes to chose from such as Tiger Challenge which puts you up against the worlds best golfers to even some undeniably tough made up players.In Tiger Challenge you go on a normal two-some and try to win by dormie to the last hole or win by at least 2 shots.May seem easy at first but as you progress it gets interesting.If you do win you will get certain amouts of cash ranging from the difficulty of the round,course, and the way you played.From then on you can end up increasing your stats and thus getting upgrades to your equipment.Now if Tiger Challenge proves to be difficult to beat for now you can increase your stats by playing in another mode called Tournaments.You play your way through courses that you only dreamed of playing and try to catch up to the leader.The tournaments range from 1 to even professional 4 day tourneys.If you win you obviously get the winnings from the purse and the way you played the course adds a few thousands to your stat bank(you can get extra cash such as a close approach,eagle,birdie,or pin seeker).Another mode is Scenarios.Which pits you against different scenarios ranging from hitting to specified targets to even try to get a comeback.This is another great way to play and adds a great replay value to the game.And last mode will be Online Ranking.Where your sats are shown and can be put into a WORLD WIDE SCORBOARD.It would be cool if you could play xbox live but sadly this kind of nature does not exist.
Graphics
WOW,again.Easily the most rich,colorful and detailed golf game ever made.Or at least now.The courses seem to just jump out and make you wanna play.The character models are a little sketchy but is mediocore toward the xbox power capabilities.But the swing is superbly done and though seemingly be the same to all the golfers.The course I believe are true to life and made correctly from what I see.
Controls
The controls are a bit complex but after awhile it becomes second nature.The mechanics are very well done and when you get the hang of wind direction,distance,and other things you will literally become a pro.The chipping and sand shots can get frustrating but will as I said become second nature.For more referance the main things you really need to know is just pull back on the joystick(on the way back you should repeatedly tap the white button for boost) and push forward on the joystick.While ball is in the air you can also repeatedly tap the black button and point the direction to control ball spin.
Replay Value
A definite buy for the replay value.Even playing it for awhile gets you hooked and makes you want to get a 100% in the whole game.I think even people who dont even like golf may be addicted to the game and possibly want to play.
