The Bottom Line: I would've liked to see USB keyboard support, but this game manages to break the mold of the first person shooter that lasts you a week. Worth the money.
mr_chupon99's Full Review: Time Splitters 2 for PlayStation 2
Timesplitters 2 is about a billion times better than the original, and leaves all other console First Person Shooters (FPS) in the dust. In terms of computer FPS, I enjoyed playing this more than anything from the Quake series, and Unreal Tournament only beats it because of the thousands of mods and mutators around to keep it different. Keyboard and mouse compatibility would've made it much easier to control, but that is my only complaint with the game. Which is saying a lot.

Someone finally realized that texture detailing isn't the be all and end all of these types of games. Honestly, once you start shooting to save your life, you're not going to notice how sharp the wall looks up close. The texture quality of the game is about 7 out of 10 in that you won't complain about blurry textures, but you won't be drooling either. Anyway, to the point, the modelling and animation in this game is better than any I have seen before. The characters are in your face amazing, and the sheer volume of character models made for this game exceeds a hundred.
Sound: 8
We've got voice acting at around 7/10, the gun effects are done well considering the period difference between the guns - you won't hear the same effect for 2 different sniper rifles for example. The music in this game is very well done, and you can turn off the music in the game leaving the sound effects if you like that kind of atmosphere, or wish to add your own music on your trusty CD player.
Gameplay 9
This is what makes the game. The story mode (albeit with a tacky story), can be 1 player or 2 player co-op takes you to different places in different times in history (from russia in the early 1900's to the distant future). Depending on the difficulty you choose, the enemies not only get smarter and stronger, but you get more mission objectives. For example, on easy mode in Russia, you need to do the standard objectives and the exit point for the level appears right before you. Convienient. On medium, the facility goes to hell in a handbasket, special forces start coming after you, and you have to go up against a Russian military chopper. I haven't tried hard yet, but it scares me.
Extra features, too many to count, are unlocked in a challenge mode. Shooting zombies, to breaking windows, to being a monkey and collecting bananas are in here, as well as death matches. Win a medal (gold is notoriously difficult to get in most cases) to unlock new character models, new types of Vs. modes, and cheats.
Oh, did I mention it's compatibile with the PS2 network adapter? Yeah....enough said.
Renting this game isn't enough, even if you sit in your basement for the entire duration of the rental playing non-stop without sleep. This game is worth the $45, hands down.
