Pros: Confident address, cool looks, OK accuracy
Cons: Lousy grip, mediocre feel, expensive
The Bottom Line: Good solid irons, but nothing to rave about. Find them at a good price, don't pay full pop for these. Investigate forged irons at a similar price.

| ar_colorado's Full Review: Titleist DCI 762 Irons 3- PW Steel |
First, a little background on me- I am a 5 handicapper who plays or practices as often as the weather will permit.
I found a set of these irons used at Golfsmith and decided to pick them up. I had read about them and figured since they were new I would be willing to give them a shot.
I was playing with Cleveland TA-5 irons and really liked them, but was beginning to get turned off by the offset on those irons at address. I felt I was in better control of my game enough to try some more "blade" like irons, like the Cleveland TA-3 or these Titleists.
At address, they look great. They instill a lot of confidence in me to make a good shot. As much feel as I could get out of hitting into a backstop, they seemed to be pretty good; I felt like they were solid, better than the TA-5 I was playing at the time.
Once I took them out on the course, I found that I could work the ball much better than I could with the TA-5. I was able to bend some balls a little better than I could before. The feel of the long irons was wonderful. The short irons were good too, but my short game control wasn't very good.
Their spin characteristics were decidedly average. I have hit irons that create much more spin (and some less) than I got with these. Even being new, they didn't slice dents in the Pro V1 balls I was playing like other new irons have done.
Distance was fantastic. I was hitting one less club into greens than I had expected. If I wound up and hit the ball solidly I could get about 175 yards out of a 7-iron, which I wouldn't have dreamed of with the other sets I had owned.
Being cast, they kind of "clunk" through the ball I thought. Better than where I was, though. It didn't matter much if I was playing a "feel" ball or a "distance" ball, they all felt somewhat the same.
I held on to these irons for quite a while until I had the opportunity to buy Ben Hogan forged irons. Let me tell you, the differences between forged and cast are small but once you play enough and can begin to see the difference it becomes very very significant.
I like these irons a lot, the technology seems to be smart, but I just didn't think they had the feel that I wanted out of a golf club, nor did they have a lot of finesse. I could smack the ball a long way with these clubs but they just lag behind my forged irons very badly.
