One of the biggest influences in any sport is the feel of the equipment. Something that just feels "right" is more likely to help in better performance in that particular sport. Golf is one sport where not only the players skill level but the clubs they use can have a great impact on the round. A golfers worst enemy are usually his irons. The irons come into play with the difficult mid range game between the drive and putt.
The Titleist DCI 962 irons and clubs that put the feel back into the game. These clubs are perhaps the finest set of irons on the market today and come at a reasonable price. The are extremely easy to hit because of the large club head. Larger than most of the irons made by Titleist. This allows for the clubs to be more forgiving in terms of placement. With these irons it is easier to control the types of shots, whether I'm trying to hit high or low, or trying to punch out of the rough the "right feel" is there.
Also, they are good looking clubs. The are very visually pleasing and aesthetics are important in sports. Looking good means you feel good and feeling good means you will play good (or if not you still can take consolation in knowing you look good). The other company that makes quality irons is Ping but I would still have to go with the DCI's because of the feel. Pings are sometimes more difficult to control.
For the beginners I would recommend another club to start with. Something maybe like Hippo clubs or Tech-Edge that is a little less of an investment, but for intermediate and up these clubs are great without needing a PGA salary to afford.
