| Hen-Dog's Full Review: Titleist DCI 962 Irons |
Golf is no longer a dry and dull sport that you hate to see on tv every weekend. It is now the sport for the kings of our society. It is the ultimate business sport where you now talk among your fellow kings about stock portfolios rather than how little Johny is doing in school. And of course, kings always want to impress the rest of the three in their foursome with long drives and a precise iron game. If you believe that having the right golf club is insignificant to your golf game, go try baseball. After a couple trips to the range, you will notice the difference between the K-Mart 99$ for a whole set clubs than your Titleist DCI Irons.
If you want the best of the best, than Titleist is the choice. Here are the reasons. First of all, Titleist does not make their clubheads oversized. Many other companies such as Wilson are making the clubheads much too big. The main source for power in a golf swing for long hitting is club head speed. With oversized clubheads, it is difficult to generate enough club head speed to hit long iron shots. Titleist allows their clubheads to be large enough to hit the ball squarely on a consistent basis while still being able to generate enough club head speed. Secondly, price is obviously a factor. It is hard enough paying hundreds for a driver, but Titleist Irons are all at very reasonable prices. An even better way to save money is to buy used clubs. Instead of paying $1299(base price for a set of Callaway Hawkeye Irons), you can get a set of used Titleist DCI's for as low as $250. I know because that's what I'm playing with. If you don't believe me, go and look. Used golf clubs are still in great condition, but it won't clean you out. Another reason to go with Titleist is because Titleist is hip. This might sound like a line from Clueless, but it's true. Look at King Cobra, Ping, and Taylor Made. These three brands are used by ol'timers such as Greg "gray hair" Norman, and Mark "I wish I could keep up with Tiger Woods" O'Meara. The other brands just aren't very "cool". But TITLEIST. We got Mr. El Nino Sergio Garcia. No offense to the seniors, but if we don't play hot, doesn't mean we can't look hot.
