I used to be a big Top Flite fan until recently when I gave Titleist HP Distance balls a try. Last year I won a box of the balls at a tournament in my home town. I never actually needed the balls so I just kept them until my most recent few rounds. I was in the mood for a change, so I grabbed a sleeve of the balls and threw them into my golf bag.

The first round I played with one of these balls was amazing. I was in shock as I watched the ball soar down the fairways hole after hole (on the holes I could manage a straight drive of course). Even with poor shots, I found the ball was more controllable than lots of other balls I have used. I don't tend to put a lot of spin on my approach shots, but I found that I could stop these balls on greens with lots of ease. Now, if only I could learn how to putt.

Around the greens I found the ball was also really good. I am pretty good at chipping to begin with, but I found I could put this ball within 5' very consistently. Add to that my recent putting improvements (I've always been a cruddy putter) and I can safely say if I keep using these balls, I'll probably lower my handicap by at least a few points!

I usually average scores of 87-95 at 6000-6300 yards. My most recent scores using Titleist HP Distance balls have been 81 (personal best), 83, two scores of 88, 90 and 92. Part of the reason I have been shooting lower scores is my improved driving accuracy and distance, but I have to give some credit to the ball. Two of my longest drives I have ever made were with this type of ball, both over 300 yards.
