| mshuey's Full Review: Titus Loco-Moto Coil Kit 3 |
Let's face it, you can spend thousands on a full suspension frame. But if you want high quality construction, uniqueness, and all around ridability in a sub $1000 dollar frame, I highly recommend the Titus Loco-Moto.
Aside from great value for the money, this bike is perfect for the shorter rider looking for medium travel full suspension ride. Rear suspension is adjustable from 4.25 to 4.75 inches. The only bike close to it in standover is the new 2002 Specialized Enduro.
This bike is best suited for epic trail rides, small drops, and with a judicious parts selection possibly cross country racing. The bike is a bit on the heavy side (mine is a shade over 30 pounds... but I have Sun Rhyno Lite wheels and beefy rubber.
This bike excels in the rough stuff and will have you trying things you normally would not have done on a rigid bike.
The single pivot suspension is simple, quiet, and easy to maintain. This bike is a great choice for a clydesdale rider as the bike is plenty stiff and the frame has nice beefy welds and gussets.
You have two rear shock choices... air or coil-over. I chose the coil over for the "cushier" ride. But the air will be lighter. Note: the Fox coil-over is a great shock, but you might want to upgrade your coil to specifically match your weight or you'll never get the shock pre-load tuned correctly. Make sure your dealer knows your weight so he can get you the right coil... this is particularly important for heavier riders as the standard shipped coil is for riders up to 160 pounds.
I built the bike myself... and everything went together easily with no surprises. If you really scour the web for deals you can easily keep a complete bike under two grand.
