loserchild7's Full Review: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for PlayStation 2
i have played this game for a few hours and these are my opinions on the game so far:
GRAPHICS
the graphics are top notch...what i would expect from a playstation 2 game. The shadowing is great, and the environment and the people are lifelike and very sharp. The extraordinary graphics come at a slow load time, but nothing to lower the games score...the gameplay makes the load worth it
GAMEPLAY
the character, sam, is controled with the analog stick and he moves very responsively...my only complaint is the camera is manual which makes it so you cant see everything and dying from this is not uncommon. Sam has many different actions he can perform. He does anything from rappeling to crouching, and climbing to holding himself up on a wall doing splits. The controls, even though may seem difficult, are rather easy to master, i was familiar with the controls about 30 minutes after first putting the disc into the drive. also the game is like real life, you have to hide, walk quietly, and hide dead and unconcious bodies. Also making your own dark spots is required to get past enemies undetected. locked doors require picking which you do by turning the analog stick in a circle...this is a neat idea, but gets tiresome and boring after you have done this over and over.
FINAL
this is one of the best games of the year easily...dont let the few flaws prevent you from buying this game. Even though i only rented it...i will be in the market to buy very soon...
