| thebrit100's Full Review: Tool Dock Tool Rack 22159 |
I use my garage for woodworking and have very little space as it also serves as the store for christmas decorations etc etc etc. I have collected a reasonable array of powertools over the years, including a benchgrinder, smalldrill press, sander, scroll saw.
I had each of these out permanently on a workbench in the garage prior to this purchase, they took up a lot of space and caused a lot of clutter. I also purchased the full height tool station.
I got a great deal on this unit, i purchased it from rural king at a clearance sale for $99, a steal.
The unit is heavy, construction is first class. It will take two of you to lift it out of the car(132lbs) , its 67 inches tall by 31 wide and 26 deep, mine came with four shelves, each 1/2 inch thick fibreboard, however they are high quality and will take a screw or bolt easily.
I have three of my tools mounted on base plates, i also added some handles to the front edge to make it easier to lift the inserts out, you will not be reaching over and pulling the insert up with the tool.
The bottom set of rails need to be raised by one slot in the frame, this prevents the mounting bolts in the tools dragging on the base. Each set of rails is adjustable in 1 inch increments to suit your own tools.
The base has robust screw adjustable mounting feet, these enable the unit to be levelled for uneven floors.
Each side of the rack, has peg board holes in it for additional tool storage. There is ample room to store tool accesseries in the sides of the rack, i may even add some shelves to mine so i can store sandpaper etc in it alongside the relevent tool.
This has been a great acquisitiion for me, it has freed up valuable bench space in my small shop, i can now lay out the work and do it logically and still get the car in.
The only downside to using this system is the need to change tools regularly, however if you plan your work this isnt an issue. I can no longer move from machine to machine, however this is a small price to pay for the great extra space i now have.
