| mbmattson's Full Review: Toro Super Recycler Mower |
We received this Toro lawn mower for a wedding gift from
my Sister In Law and family. What a great present! We were
moving into our first home the day after we got married and
our new house had a large lawn. We had no lawn equipment and
knew we needed a good lawn mower. The gift was perfect and
we probably would have picked this model ourselves if we had
to purchase one. We have used this mower for over 2 years now
and it has proven to be a high quality machine. We know we
will have it for many years to come.
This is the ultimate walk behind lawn mower. I have not seen
a model with so many features and is this powerful. The mower
is pretty lightweight considering all the features and power.
The Toro adjusts to your walking pace, up to 4 miles per hour!
There is a 21 inch cutting width and a 4-cycle engine type with
6.0 horsepower. The handle can fold when not in use and the bag
can be easily removed. This mower takes up little space in our
garage. The mower is approximately 80 pounds with aluminum
deck material. This mower is NOT easy to assemble but it does
come with detailed instructions and informative diagrams. We
should have had this mower professionally assembled. It was
truly a pain with tons of attachments and pieces.
This mower really does a good job and gives our lawn a nice
even cut. I like how it is self propelled, which makes it
easier for a lightweight like myself to cut the lawn quickly.
I keep it on the lowest self propel level, since it is so
powerful. It tends to pull me along and I have trouble turning
corners when it is on high speed. I have almost lost my grip
before and the mower would have sped away from me. That
would have been a site as I ran after it down the street. My
Husband can handle the self propel at top speed, so he can
mow the lawn fairly quickly.
We have deep ditches along our yard, and this feature is very
helpful when mowing in non-flat areas. Sometimes if our lawn
is too thick or long, the mower will stall when trying to cut.
We just raise the blade level, and it then works nicely. The
clutch is sometimes difficult to use when starting the mower.
You have to pull the start cord and adjust the clutch at the
same time in order for the mower to start. It's not an easy
task and often takes me several tries.
This lawn mower has many features. They include:
* Rear bag that keeps lawn free of grass clippings.
* Discharge door can be closed for when grass is growing
slower and there is less clippings.
* Can add side discharge chute instead of using rear.
* Runs on mixture of gasoline and oil, 50:1 ratio. Comes
with Toro 2-cycle oil for lubrication and increase engine
life. It's a pain to go get gasoline each month, but it does
last through several mowings.
* Self propelled with 3 speeds.
* 3 height of cut settings, can adjust easily.
* Easy to reach throttle, ground speed, self propelled control
bar settings.
* Easy to remove and empty clipping bag. Can be removed for
easier storage when not in use.
* Driver wheels to propel more easily.
* Air cleaner that needs to be cleaned only after 25 operating
hours.
* Adjustable wheel drive.
* Easy to remove and sharpen blades. Blades can be replaced
each season if dull.
* Adjustable blade brake.
* Local service dealers available for maintenance and service.
* Full 5 year limited warranty. Toro will repair mower and parts
and labor are included.
Toro has many other mowers, tractors, yard tools, sprinkler
systems, and snow blowers. They also offer grounds management,
professional contractors, golf course management, and of course
