| dant69's Full Review: Tosca |
I have been to Toscas on several occasions and have always really enjoyed the food. It has a dramatic decor and I especially enjoy eating in the quieter "Wine Room" towards the back of the building.
The only drawback is the service gets a little spotty on weekends. Toscas is tremendously popular and the place gets packed! Occasionally you get some very blank looks from the waitstaff, almost a "deer in the headlights" type of look. Even with a reservation, you can expect to wait up to an hour, which would be fine except the bar area is very awkward to use. They serve people full dinners at the bar which is terrific, but if you want to get a drink you have to reach over the diners and keep apologizing profusely. (NOTE: I recommend NO top heavy drinks..Wine, Martinis, etc. till you get to your table. You risk spilling it on someone, although the diners at the bar tend to be very gracious and forgiving. Trust me!!)
All in all, it is a wonderful place to eat on the South Shore which tends to be a little light on better restaurants!
