The Bottom Line: This is a great set to make the digital tv transition with. The price is right, a quality item, and enough inputs for the average user.
bigdirty's Full Review: Toshiba 32AV502U 31.5 in. HDTV TV
The 502 series is Toshiba's new entry line of flat screen LCD-TVs, and with that being said, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the REGZA series has. The resolution is 720p and not 1080p, but that should be expected for the price range you find this set in.
The number of inputs is adequate, you get 2 HDMI, 2 Component, 2 Composite, and a D-Sub VGA. I still however needed a switching device to handle all of my component video items (XBox 360/XBox/Playstation 2/Wii/DVD/Cable Box), but then there really isn't a TV on the market that can handle it. Additional HDMI inputs would also have been nice, but the REGZA series handles that better than the AV502.
Picture quality is pretty good for an LCD TV, with some of the truest blacks to be seen on a set in the price range, but still are a little in the dark gray range. HD signals are nice and clear, however standard definition signals have some artifacting and aren't easy on the eyes.
The weakest point of the 502 is that the sound is extremely weak and hollow. While this isn't that much of a surprise for a thin set, it must be stated. Also, another feature that is missing is there is no internal clock, so if you like waking to TV, this isn't the set to get.
