I bought my Toshiba MD9DM1 for a family trip to San Diego. This was used to entertain my 18 month old and my three years old in a six-hour trip. I looked around at other TV/DVD combos, but settled for the Toshiba. There are some reasons why I did that, but the number one reason was my previous experience with Toshiba. I had a 26in. TV for ten years with no problems and Thought that I would try it.
As another person stated I was a little taken aback by the size of the TV. IT seemed to me that it may be a little big, but I thought that nothing would be smaller. The TV fits perfectly between the driver and the passenger seats and was an easy reach for the cigarette lighter plug. When I bought the TV, I also get a carrier case and would recommend this for anyone that is using it in a driving situation. It places the TV in a perfect location for both kids in the back seat.
The picture quality is better than my home TV and DVD players are. Begin a 9” TV it is easy for both kids to watch and actually see the program. In the sun, you can still see the picture very clearly. The sound is of good quality. This is one nice little package that gives a family the flexibility to have a TV in the car without spending a lot of money. It is also nice that you can take the unit out of the car and be used in the home as I did due to a DVD player breaking.
The only limitation that I can see is that the guy gets a little hot and if it sitting right next to you, you will get warm. Another item I wish it has was a wireless headphone system, but what can you expect for the price.
This is a great bang for the buck and would recommend it to anyone that is looking or a more economically choice for in vehicle entertainment.
