Cons:Bean bags are dangerous once they break open
The Bottom Line: ---
I remember playing Toss Across by Tyco as a kid with my sister, even though we threw the bean bags at each other, more then at the game board. Toss Across will teach kids hand and eye coordination, strategy and to play well with others.
The one we had as kids, was not too sturdy, either the blocks fell off when we hit them too hard or the legs came off. I recently bought the newest version, for my daughter, Jordan, when she gets older. When my sister came over and saw that I bought it, we played and laughed for old times sake.
The game board sits about 3 inches off the floor, on sturdy black legs, the board is made out of durable hard black plastic. You get 6 neon pink beanbags, which are soft, but hurt if hit too hard with one. There are 9 durable neon green plastic squares, with 3 sides, a X on one side, a O on another and one blank side, that are attached to the game board frame and spin around when a beanbag is thrown at it. The X's or O's are neon pink or neon green. The blocks are on a bar so they move easily when something is thrown at it.
The object of the game is to stand a few feet back and toss your bean bags on the game board, trying to get 3 O's or X's in a row, diagonally, vertically or horizontally before your opponent does. When playing, watch out, you can even turn a block over to help your opponent out and vice versa.
If you do play I would play outside or in an open space with no breakables. It can get frustrating for little ones who can't throw hard enough to turn over one of the blocks, and they might get mad and throw them and break something. After a while the bean bags get old and can rip open easily. The stuff inside is dangerous to kids if swallowed, so throw them away if they start to break open.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a different and fun way to play Tic-Tac-Toe. I would suggest this game for kids over 4 years old, if younger I would help them. Give them hints as how to throw it or where to make the beanbag land to turn the block over. I would let them stand right at the game board and throw them on the block of choice.
