Just like all pet owners, we want our cats to be happy and active, so we buy them toys to play with. Our latest find was the Toyshoppe Teasables Cat Toys Gift Pack and while our one senior cat Frisky would still prefer a plain old string or toy mouse, our younger cat, Reva, absolutely loves this toy and has made it worth the purchase.
What is it?
This toy is fairly simple and very easy to use to give your cat hours of fun. The sturdy plastic wand is about two and a half feet long, with a long string attached. There are five interchangeable "teasers" for you to choose from in this gift pack, three different feathers and the other two are suppose to be like leather strips, the feathers are all bright and colorful, but I don't think the Reva really cares about the colors. The "teasers" basically clip or snap in at an attachment at the end of the string, it is suppose to be easy to interchange the teasers, but sometimes you think you've got it attached just to have your cat detach it because you didn't have it all the way in. While this can be a little bit of a problem, it's not a big one and the fun your cat will have will far outweigh any troubles you may have. They supposedly also have packages of refills for this, but every time we go to the pet store, they seem to be out.
What do the cats think?
Well, Frisky isn't impressed with this unless I just slowly pull in across the floor like a string, then he'll go after it. He loves strings and toy mice more than anything else.
Reva absolutely loves this toy and can't get enough of it. I can drag it across the floor or dangle it in the air and she goes straight for it. She seems to like the feather "teasers" the most and she will actually bring this to me or the kids to play. She'll go pick it up, usually by the feathers and drag it over to us, meowing all the way, she's even brought it up on the bed in the middle of the night wanting to play. She loves playing with this so much that my arm will usually get tired before she does. When Reva decides to be very persistent on playing she will actually play fetch with it, wand and all. She'll bring it to me, I'll toss it off to the side or even down the hallway and she'll go get it and bring it to me, she won't stop until I play with her with it.
Is it durable?
As with any feather cat toy, the feathers will come off and you'll find feathers around the house, this toy is no different. As far as how long all the teasers will last depends on how much your cat plays with it and how vigorously they play with it. We've had some "teasers" only last a week and then some last longer, but as long as there is a hint of a feather on there, Reva will play with it. The wand is very sturdy, we haven't had any cracks or anything with it.
Conclusion
If you have cats that like to play, I definitely recommend you try the Toyshoppe Teasables Cat Toys Gift Pack, you can get it online for $12.99 at Petsmart or at the brick and mortar store, we usually buy the toys at the store since they tend to have more sales than the online store. The amount of fun your cat will have with this is definitely worth the price.
