About This Book
Toys is a little board book made by Fisher Price and is a part of their Step-by-Step book series. It's published by Reader's Digest Children's Books and the photos in this book were taken by Wagoner Photography. This cute board book is 7 pages long and is meant for children ages 9 months on up.
One of the features of Toys is a hard plastic red ring that is attached to it. This ring allows you to hook this book to any shopping cart, stroller, or car seat. This way your baby can look and play with Toys without fear of dropping it and losing it. This book has been to the grocery store with us many many times and I usually keep it in the car so that it's always on hand to occupy her while we run errands.
Why I Recommend Toys
Toys is a great book for babies and toddlers just learning how to talk. On each page of Toys is a picture of a Fisher Price toy plus the name of the toy. On the first page it shows blocks and the word "blocks" is written near the top. On the second page is beads with the word "beads" written near the top and so on. Several of the toys pictured in this book are what I would call childhood classics and your child will probably have some of these toys which will make this book more fun for them. Courtney has the snap lock beads, the telephone, the stacking rings, and the Snoopy pull toy.
Toys has helped Courtney to learn how to speak the names of these toys that she has. When she looks through this book and recognizes one of the toys, she then goes and finds the actual toy and brings it over to the book, almost as if she's telling the book "Hey...I have one of these too!" It teaches her to make a connection with what she sees in the book to what she has in her toy box.
Another thing that Courtney enjoyed about Toys is the red plastic ring. Not only does it attach to shopping carts and the like, but it's also great to chew on, which she did when she was teething. Also, because Toys is a board book, I didn't have to worry about it's pages being ripped out although I think she's finally out of her ripping books phase.
Courtney is now 2 years old and will probably be growing out of these types of books pretty soon but I'll be saving Toys should we be lucky enough to have another child so that he or she can enjoy it too.
