| ChicagoPJ's Full Review: Trader Vic's |
As a native of Chicago, who is now in PA, it is always fun to travel back there to visit friends and family. No trip is complete unless we lunch at Trader Vic's in the Palmer House. No matter what the season in Chicago, the ride down the escalator into the bamboo and torches transports me to an island in the tropics.
I like the Mai Tai at Trader Vic's, but I usually get a Vodka Collins or Singapore Sling; I prefer the sweeter drinks with lunch. As I look over the menu, I order a salad. They serve the best bread with the salads. Still warm and crusty from the oven! Everything on the menu is wonderful, but my favorite meal is the Monte Cristo sandwich. Yum! This is so good! The perfect blend of ham, chicken and several cheeses on a unique sandwich.
The round tables tucked into coves make it nice to chat with friends. Just ask, and they will seat you in a dim corner if you want to snuggle with a sweetie. The waiters are top notch and will get anything for you; as long as it is in the building. Upon leaving, it is nice to have the doorman call the cab for you.
Food: The best in Chicago!
